Preservation of Religion, His Majesty, and the State.
A MOTION made by the Lord Archbishop of Canterburie, That a Committee might be appointed, to consider how the Laws are already in Force, that tend to the Preservation of Religion, His Majesty, the State, and Common-Wealth; and what Defects are in the Execution of them, or what New Laws may be thought needful; which Motion being seconded and followed by the Lord Bishop of London, and afterwards by the Earl of Salisbury, the Committees undernamed were selected and chosen by the House, for that Purpose: videlicet,
Appointed to meet at the Council Chamber at Court, upon Thursday next, the 23d of this Instant, by Two in the Afternoon.
Moved by the Lord Chancellor, and Assented unto by the House, That the said Judges and the rest that are to attend the Committees, shall consider of the said Laws, in the mean while, against the Time of Meeting, for the better Information to be by them given unto their Lordships concerning the same.
Absence of the Lords to be noticed.
The Lord Chancellor gave Direction to the Clerk of the Parliament, to take special Notice, from Time to Time, of the Names of such of the Lords as should fail of their Appearance this Session of Parliament, having no Licence from His Majesty for their Absence.
Lords Leave to be absent.
Signification given to the House, by the Earl of Salisburie, That, upon just Occasions, made known to His Majesty, His Highness had granted Licence to the Earl of Bathe, the Lord Sandes, and the Lord Graie of Groobie, to be absent from the Parliament; and likewise to the Lord Norreys, being now in Fraunce, and there wanting his Health.
The like Signification by the Lord Chamberlain, for the Absence of the Lord Viscount Bindon; by the Lord Viscount Lisle, for the Lord Harrington; by the Lord Wotton, for the Lord Wharton; and by the Earl of Northampton, for the Lord Audley and Lord Berkley; and by the Earl of Shrewsburie, for the Earl of Kent and Lord Darcie of Menell.
To preserve the Royalties of the Crown.
