HODIE 1a vice lecta est Billa, An Act to take away Clergy from Stealers of Cattle and Sheep.
Lands to the Dean and Canons of Windsor, &c. Expedit.
The Amendments on the Bill for assuring of certain Lands to the Dean and Canons of Windsor, etc. (which were by the Lower House thought meet to be done, by taking out certain Words in the Bill) were Thrice read.
Simpson's Debt. Sir Thomas Shirley's Bill.
The Bill to secure the Debt of Sympson, and others, and save harmless the Warden of The Fleet, in Sir Thomas Sherley's Case, was returned to the House, by the Earl of Northumberland, the first of the Committees, with certain Amendments offered to be added; which Amendments were presently Twice read, and thereupon both the Bill and the said Amendments also read the Third Time. Sent to the Lower House, for their Consideration of the said Amendments.
New Executions.
Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for New Executions to be sued against any which shall hereafter be delivered out of Execution by Privilege of Parliament; and for Discharge of them, out of whose Custody such Persons shall be delivered.
Marriage.
Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, An Act to restrain all Persons from Marriage until their former Wives and former Husbands be dead.
Apprentices.
Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, An Act concerning the taking of Apprentices.
Painting.
The Bill, intituled, An Act for Redress of certain Abuses and Deceits used in Painting, was returned to the House, by the Earl of Derbie, the first of the Committees, with certain Amendments.
Labourers.
Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the Explanation of the Statute, made in the Fifth Year of the late Queen Elizabeth's Reign, concerning Labourers.
Process in the Court of Exchequer.
The Bill concerning Process and Pleadings in the Court of Exchequer, was brought into the House, by the Lord Treasurer, the first of the Committees, with certain Amendments offered to be added; which Amendments were presently Twice read.
Seditious Books.
The Bill for Reformation of divers Abuses, in bringing into this Land, printing, buying, and selling of seditious, Popish, vain, and lascivious Books, was also brought into the House by the Lord Treasurer, the first of the Committees, who made Report, That the said Bill (in the Opinion of the Committees) was not thought meet to be proceeded in; but that they wished a new Bill to be drawn instead thereof, etc. whereunto the House assented; and Ordered, That it should be framed by Mr. Serjeant Crooke, with the Advice and Allowance of the Lords Bishops of London, Winchester, and Lincolne.
Throgmorton to sell Lands.
The Bill for the enabling Thomas Throgmorton, Esquire, to sell certain of his Lands, for Payment of his Debts, was returned into the House, by the Earl of Northumberland, the first of the Committees, with sundry Additions and Amendments thought meet to be added.
Charges of the King's Household.
Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the assigning of a certain Sum of Money, for the Defraying of the Charges of the King's most Honourable Household.
Execution of Justice. Expedit.
Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the better Execution of Justice.
Barony of Abergavenny.
Forasmuch as the Hearing of the Cause concerning the Barony of Bergevenie, which was appointed to have been heard again this Day before the Lords, is (by Occasion of great and important Businesses) deferred for this Time, and now appointed to be heard upon Wednesday next, the 16th of this Instant, by Two in the Afternoon; it is Ordered, by this High Court, That as well the Witnesses on the Part of Mr. Nevile (namely Sir Edward Carey, Knight, Charles Pagett, and William Twince, Esquires, and William Warde, Gentleman) as any others that shall or may be produced on the Part of the Lady Vane his Competitor, be warned not to depart the City until the said Cause shall receive Hearing, according to this Order.
Message from the Lower House, concerning Shirley's Bill.
A Message from the Lower House, delivered by Sir Edward Hobby, and others; first, to give their Lordships respective Thanks for the speedy Expediting of Sir Thomas Sherley's Bill, which they have now returned, with Allowance of the Amendments added by their Lordships; and secondly, to signify, that, in regard of very necessary Businesses, concerning both Houses, they cannot conveniently give Meeting unto their Lordships, about the great Matter of the Commission, until Tuesday next in the Afternoon; at which Time (if their Lordships so pleased) they would repair unto them, at the Outward Chamber, near the Parliament Presence; whereunto the Lords returned Answer, That they will hold the said Time and Place desired by those of the Lower House for this Meeting.
