Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Sir William St. Quintin and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the more effectual Provision for the Poor, in the Town of Kingston upon Hull;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Gaming, to prevent, Bill.

Ordered, That the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better preventing of excessive, immoderate, and deceitful Gaming," be read a Second Time on Monday next.

Catwater Harbour, Bill.

The Earl of Rochester reported from the Lords Committees, the Bill, intituled, "An Act for clearing, preserving, and maintaining, the Harbour of Catwater, lying near Plimouth, in the County of Devon; and for cleansing and keeping clean the Pool commonly called Sutton Pool, lying in Plimouth aforesaid," as fit to pass, without any Amendment.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for cleansing, preserving, and maintaining, the Harbour of Catwater, lying near Plimouth, in the County of Devon; and for cleansing and keeping clean the Pool commonly called Sutton Pool, lying in Plimouth aforesaid."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Ordered, That the Commons have Notice, that the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Tunbridge to Seven Oaks, &c. Highways Bill.

Whereas this Day was appointed for the House to be put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for repairing and amending the Highways leading from Seven Oakes to Woodsgate and Tunbridge Wells, in the County of Kent:"

It is Ordered, That this House be put into a Committee upon the said Bill, on Monday next, at Eleven a Clock.

Dr. Sacheverel's Trial.

The House adjourned into Westm'r Hall, to proceed in the Trial of Doctor Sacheverell.

Where being resumed;

Proclamation was made for Silence, as also for the Prisoner's Appearance.

Then the Lord Chancellor acquainted the Counsel, "They might proceed in their Defence."

And being heard;

They desired, "That some Passages out of several Books and Pamphlets might be read."

Whereupon the Managers desiring Leave to withdraw;

The House adjourned to the House above.

And being come thither; after a little Time, adjourned back again into Westm'r Hall.

Where being resumed;

And Proclamation made for keeping Silence:

The Managers acquainted the House, "They had considered the Nature of the Matters offered by the Counsel; and, being unwilling such blasphemous and impious Things should be produced in so public a Manner, desired they might not be read."

But the Counsel alledging it to be material for the Doctor's Defence, and insisting to have them read;

Parts of several Books and Pamphlets, delivered in by them, were read accordingly.

Then the House adjourned to the House above.

And there was resumed.

Ordered, That this House will proceed further in the Trial of Doctor Henry Sacheverell To-morrow, at Ten a Clock, in Westm'r Hall.

Message to H. C. that this House will proceed in the Trial.

And a Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Rogers and Mr. Meller, to acquaint them therewith.

Adjourn.
