Pake's Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to explain an Act made in the Seventh Year of Her Majesty's Reign, intituled, An Act to empower the Lord High Treasurer of Great Britain, or Commissioners of the Treasury, to compound with the Sureties of Samuel Pacey, deceased, late Receiver General for the County of Suffolk, so far as it relates to Joseph Pake, One of the said Sureties."

Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Carnegie and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for repealing an Act passed in the Parliament of Scotland, intituled, Act for discharging the Yule Vacance;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Pynsent and Trevillion, Pet. referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of William Pynsent Esquire and Mary his Wife, and John Trevillion Esquire and Elizabeth his Wife; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for confirming Partitions made between the Petitioners and their Trustees, by several Conveyances in the Petition mentioned:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the said Petition shall be, and is hereby, referred to the Lord Chief Justice of the Court of Queen's Bench and Mr. Justice Tracy; who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties that may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir William Pole and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the Relief of Insolvent Debtors, by obliging their Creditors to accept the utmost Satisfaction they are capable to make; and restoring them to their Liberty;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Minehead Harbour, Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for prolonging the Term for Payment of certain Duties, granted by an Act made in the Twelfth and Thirteenth Years of His late Majesty King William, intituled, An Act for recovering, securing, and keeping in Repair, the Harbour of Minehead, for the Benefit and Support of the Navigation and Trade of this Kingdom."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Thursday next, at Twelve a Clock.

Hamilton versus Lady Cardross.

The House being moved, "That a Day may be appointed, for hearing the Appeal depending in this House, wherein John Hamilton Esquire is Appellant, and the Honourable Catherine Lady Cardross Respondent:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Tuesday the Eighth Day of April next.

Cavendish's Pet. referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of William Cavendish Esquire and Elizabeth his Wife, and his Brother; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for vesting the Freehold and Inheritance of some Lands, lying in the Manor of Dovebridge, alias Doveridge, in the Counties of Derby and Stafford, in Trustees, to be sold, for discharging Incumbrances thereupon, and Payment of Debts; as also for empowering him to enfranchise some Customary Lands and Tenements in the said Manor, and supplying an Omission in his Marriage Settlement:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration thereof shall be, and is hereby, referred to the Lord Chief Justice of the Court of Queen's Bench and Mr. Justice Tracy; who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties that may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

VanHomrigh's Bill:

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for vesting the Estate late of Bartholomew Van Homrigh Esquire, deceased, lying in the Kingdom of Ireland, in Trustees, to be sold."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Hiccocks and Mr. Orlebar:

To carry down the said Bill, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

Norwich Workhouse, Bill:

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for erecting a Workhouse in the City and County of the City of Norwich, for the better Employment and maintaining the Poor there."

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Clarendon reported from the said Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill; and think it fit to pass, with One Amendment."

Which, being read Twice, was (with an Amendment made by the House) agreed to.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for erecting a Workhouse in the City and County of the City of Norwich, for the better Employment and maintaining the Poor there."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill, with the Amendment, shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

After reading, and considering, the Report of the Judges, to whom was referred the Petition of Prudence Vyner Widow and others; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for the Purposes in the Petition mentioned:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioners have Leave to bring in a Bill, according to the Prayer of the Petition.

African Company versus Attorney General, Hearing put off.

Upon reading the Petition of the Royal African Company of England and Samuel Swift; shewing, "That One of the said Company's Counsel is ill, and will not be able to attend on Monday next, being the Day appointed for arguing the Errors upon the Writ of Error brought by the said Company; by reason whereof, it is agreed between the Parties, that the Hearing may be adjourned for a Week; and praying that the same may be adjourned accordingly:"

It is therefore Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the Errors argued in this Case, on Monday the Seventh Day of April next.

Hillersdon's Bill.

After reading the Report of the Judges, to whom was referred the Petition of John Hillersdon, of The Inner Temple, London, Esquire, and others; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for the Purposes therein mentioned:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill, according to the Prayer of the Petition.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for vesting several Lands, in Battlesden, in the County of Bedford, in John Hillersdon Esquire and his Heirs, discharged of several Uses and Estates to which they are now limited; and for settling other Lands, of greater Value, in the same County, to the same Uses."

Vesey's Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for confirming to Agmondisham Vesey Esquire and his Children the Benefit intended them by an Act passed in the First Year of Her Majesty's Reign, for their Relief; and for discharging him and them of the Rents and Profits of their Estate, incurred before the passing of the said Act."

Upon the First Reading of the last mentioned Bill:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration thereof shall be, and is hereby, referred to the Lord Chief Justice of the Court of Queen's Bench and Mr. Justice Tracy; who are forthwith to summon all Parties that are to be concerned therein; and, after hearing them, and perusing a Copy of the Bill, attested by the Clerk of the Parliaments, are to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands.

Duloe Vicarage, Bill.

The Earl of Abingdon reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for making a perpetual Augmentation to the Vicarage of Duloe, in the County of Cornwal, out of the Tithes and Profits of the Rectory of Duloe," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and made some Amendments thereunto."

Which were read Twice, and agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the Amendments.
