Sir T. Stanley's Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of Sir Thomas Stanley Baronet, and Edward Stanley, Son and Heir Apparent of the said Sir Thomas; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, to enable the Petitioner Sir Thomas Stanley to sell or mortgage Lands, in the Petition mentioned, for Payment of Debts; and to enable the Petitioner Edward Stanley, and John Stanley his Brother, to make Jointures upon their respective Marriages, and other Purposes in the Petition mentioned:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the said Petition shall be, and is hereby, referred to Mr. Baron Lovell and Mr. Justice Eyre; who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties that may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

Bp. of Chester to preach 8th March.

Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lord Bishop of Chester be, and he is hereby, desired to preach before this House, in the Abbey Church, Westm'r, on the Eighth of March next, being the Day on which Her Majesty began Her happy Reign.

Whitehaven Harbour, Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term for Payment of certain Duties, granted in and by an Act of Parliament, passed in the Seventh Year of Her Majesty's Reign, intituled, An Act for preserving and enlarging the Harbour of Whitehaven, in the County of Cumberland."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Saturday next.

Paterson et al. versus Magistrates of Edinburgh; Order for Papers.

Upon reading the Petition of Mr. Alexander Paterson, Writer, in Edinburgh, on Behalf of himself and Co-partners; shewing, "That he hath a Petition of Appeal depending in this House, from several Orders and Interlocutors made by the Lords of Council and Session in Scotland, in a Suit brought by the Petitioner, against the Magistrates and Town Council of Edinburgh, and Mr. William Johnston, now Sir William Johnston Baronet, and Co-partners; and having Occasion, in order to maintain his said Appeal, for Copies or Extracts of the several Decrees, Orders, and Interlocutors, made in the said Suit; and praying, that the Clerks of Session may make and deliver to the Petitioner, or his Agent, (on paying for the same) the Summons of Reduction and Declarator against the said Magistrates of Edinburgh and the said Sir William Johnston, and the Executorials following thereupon, the several Minutes of Debate before the Lords of Session, and all Petitions, Answers, Orders, and Interlocutory Sentences and Decrees, in the said Suit; and that the Town Clerk of the City of Edinburgh may give the Petitioner, or his Agent, authentic Copies, or Extracts, of the Assignments, or Tack, complained of, made by the Magistrates of Edinburgh to the said Sir William Johnston and Copartners; and of all the Acts and Orders made by the Magistrates and Town Council of Edinburgh, on the Nineteenth of July One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ten, to the Tenth of August thereafter, with the Minutes of Council, and the several Protestations relating to the said Assignment or Tack, as the Petitioner, or his Agent, shall think fit:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Clerks of the said Session, and Town Clerk of the said City of Edinburgh, do make out, and deliver to the Petitioner, or his Agent, on paying for the same, authentic Copies or Extracts of all the Proceedings abovementioned, or such of them as the Petitioner, or his Agent, shall think fit.
