Hill's Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of Nathaniel Hill Clerk, Son and Heir of Edward Hill, late of Rowell, in the County of Northampton, Esquire, deceased; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for Sale of an Estate in Orton, for Payment of Debts and Portions, and settling an Estate in Rowell in Lieu thereof:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the said Petition shall be, and is hereby, referred to Mr. Justice Blencowe and Mr. Justice Tracy; who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties that are to be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

Malt, &c. Bill:

The House was (according to Order) adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for charging and continuing the Duties upon Malt, Mum, Cyder, and Perry, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Twelve; and for applying Part of the Coinage Duties, to pay the Deficiency of the Value of Plate coined, and to pay for the re-coining the old Money in Scotland."

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Clarendon reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill; and think it fit to pass, without any Amendment."

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for charging and continuing the Duties upon Malt, Mum, Cyder, and Perry, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Twelve; and for applying Part of the Coinage Duties, to pay the Deficiency of the Value of Plate coined, and to pay for the re-coining the old Money in Scotland."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

To let them know, that the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Baily and his Wife, Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of Calamy Bayly and Mary his Wife; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for selling the Premises in the Petition mentioned, in the County of Hertford, for raising Five Hundred Pounds, and maintaining themselves and Family:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the said Petition shall be, and is hereby, referred to Mr. Justice Powell and Mr. Baron Bury; who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties that may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Burslem and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable John Lord Gower Baron of Stit'nham, an Infant, to make a Settlement, upon his Marriage;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Farrer and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term for Payment of certain Duties, granted in and by an Act of Parliament, passed in the Seventh Year of Her Majesty's Reign, intituled, An Act for preserving and enlarging the Harbour of Whitehaven, in the County of Cumberland;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Whitehaven Harbour, Bill.

The House being moved, "That Mr. Dennis Leary may enter into a Recognizance for Nicholas Colthurst, upon his Appeal depending in this House; he being in Ireland, and the Respondent consenting thereunto:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Dennis Leary may enter into a Recognizance for the said Nicholas Colthurst, as desired.

Queen's Message, concerning the Scots Peers, &c.

The House was (according to Order) adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee, to take into further Consideration that Part of Her Majesty's most Gracious Message to this House, on the Seventeenth of January last, which relates to the Peers of the North Part of Great Britain.

And, after some Time, the House was resumed.

Assize of Fuel, Bill.

Whereas To-morrow is appointed for the Second Reading of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for explaining and altering the Laws now in Being, concerning the Assizes of Fuel, so far as they relate to the Assize of Billet made, or to be made, of Beech-wood only:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Bill shall be read a Second Time on Thursday next.

D. Hamilton &c. versus L. Mohun.

Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petition of the most Noble James Duke of Hamilton and Elizabeth Dutchess of Hamilton his Wife, Daughter and Heir of Digby Lord Gerrard deceased, presented to this House the Twentyninth of January last, and the Answer of the Right Honourable Charles Lord Mohun put in thereunto, shall be, and are hereby, referred to the Lords Committees for Privileges; whose Lordships are to meet on Thursday next, at Eleven a Clock; and, having considered thereof, and heard such Persons concerning the same as they shall think fit, are afterwards to report their Opinion thereupon to the House.

Adjourn.
