D. Somerset takes the Oaths.

This Day Charles Duke of Somerset took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes; having first delivered a Certificate of his receiving the Sacrament, and his Witnesses sworn and examined to the Truth thereof.

Land Tax Bill.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for granting an Aid to Her Majesty, to be raised by a Land Tax in Great Britain, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eleven."

And, after some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Guilford reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill; and think it fit to pass, without any Amendment."

Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Conyers and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to oblige Ships, coming from Places infected, more effectually to perform their Quarentine;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Quarentine Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to oblige Ships, coming from Places infected, more effectually to perform their Quarentine."

Bolton versus Bolton.

Upon reading the Petition of Appeal of Abigail Bolton Widow, Charles Bolton, Daniel Bolton, Henry Bolton, Michael Bolton, Hugh Bolton, Thomas Westby Clerk and Henrietta his Wife, from an Order or Decree made in Her Majesty's Court of Exchequer in Ireland, in a certain Cause wherein Henry Bolton was Complainant, and the Petitioners Defendants; "which Order or Decree, the Petitioners are advised, is erroneous, and inconsistent with the Rules of Equity; and therefore humbly appeal from the same, and pray Relief in the Premises; and that the said Order or Decree may be reversed; and that the said Henry Bolton answer this Petition of Appeal; and that the Service of this Order upon the Respondent's Clerk or Attorney in the said Court of Exchequer may be deemed good Service, in order thereunto:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Henry Bolton may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and shall and he is hereby required to put in his Answer thereunto, in Writing, on or before Friday the Nineteenth Day of January next, at Eleven a Clock in the Forenoon; and that the Service of this Order on the Respondent's Clerk or Attorney in Court shall be good Service, in order thereunto.

Quarentine Bill.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, presently.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee thereupon.

And, after some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Lord North & Grey reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill; and think it fit to pass, without any Amendment."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Ford's Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of James Ford Clerk, and Elizabeth his Wife, Daughter of William Muggleston Junior, and Elizabeth Merrett and William Merret, Son and Daughter of Solomon Merret, being of the Age of One and Twenty Years, and of John and Hannah Mugglestone, Solomon, Anne, and Francis Merret, and Leonard Fosbrooke, being attained their Age of Discretion, and of William Mugglestone, Mary, John, Lucretia, and Henry Merret, and of Mary, Anne, Susanna, and Alexander Fosbrooke, Infants of tender Years, by John Mugglestone, Solomon Merret, and Leonard Fosbrooke, their Fathers and Guardians; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, to make Sale of a Messuage, and several Cottages, Lands, Tithes, and other Hereditaments, lying and being in Bredon and Tonge, in the County of Leicester; and for the Distribution of the Monies arising by such Sale, in such Proportions and Shares among the Petitioners, according to the true Intent and Meaning of the Limitations in the Settlement, in the said Petition more at large set forth:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the said Petition shall be, and is hereby, referred to Mr. Baron Price and Mr. Justice Dormer; who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties that may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

Adjourn.
