The Earl of Bradford reported Her Majesty's Answer to the Address of this House, presented to Her Majesty, as follows; (videlicet;)

"That Her Majesty will appoint Commissioners to slate the Accompts, as desired."

Militia Bill.

Hodie 2^a et 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for raising the Militia for the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eight, although the Month's Pay formerly advanced be not re-paid."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Ordered, That the Commons have Notice, the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Equivalent-money, Bill.

Bank of England Bill.

Coffee, &c. Duties continued upon, Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for continuing several Duties therein mentioned, upon Coffee, Chocolate, Spices, Pictures, and Muslins, and additional Duties upon several of the said Commodities, and certain Duties upon Callicoes, China Wares, and Drugs; and for continuing the Duties called the Two Third Subsidies of Tonnage and Poundage, for preserving the Public Credit; and for ascertaining the Duties of Coals exported for Foreign Parts; and for securing the Credit of the Bank of England; and for passing several Accompts of Taxes raised in the County of Monmouth; and for promoting the Consumption of such Tobacco as shall have paid Her Majesty's Duties."

A Message from the House of Commons, by Sir Henry Dutton Colt and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for explaining and amending a Proviso and Power for enabling Sir John Wentworth Baronet and his Brothers to make a Wife a Jointure;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Mischiefs by Fire, to prevent, Bill.

As also to return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better preventing Mischiefs that may happen by Fire;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to their Lordships Amendments made to the said Bill.

Message from H. C. to return the Earl of Kilmarnock's Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Francis Masham and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting several Messuages, Houses, Lands, and Tenements, in the County of Dublin, in the Kingdom of Ireland, formerly the Estate of Thomas Boyd Esquire, in a Trustee, to be sold, for the Payment of the Debts of Lettice late Countess of Kilmarnock, deceased; and for raising Portions for the Younger Children of the said Countess;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with some Amendments, whereunto they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Then the Amendments were read Thrice, and agreed to; and Ordered, That the Commons have Notice thereof.

Mine-adventurers versus Clause in the Bill for continuing Duties upon Coffee, &c.

Upon reading the Petition of the Governor and Company of the Mine-adventurers of England; praying, to be heard, by their Counsel, against a Clause in the Bill, intituled, "An Act for continuing several Duties therein mentioned, upon Coffee, Chocolate, Spices, Pictures, and Muslins, and additional Duties upon several of the said Commodities, and certain Duties upon Callicoes, China Wares, and Drugs; and for continuing the Duties called the Two Third Subsidies of Tonnage and Poundage, for preserving the Public Credit; and for ascertaining the Duties of Coals exported for Foreign Parts; and for securing the Credit of the Bank of England; and for passing several Accompts of Taxes raised in the County of Monmouth; and for promoting the Consumption of such Tobacco as shall have paid Her Majesty's Duties:"

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Byerly and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for Sale of the Manor of Swinden, and several Messuages, Lands, and Hereditaments, in the County of York, late Part of the Estate of Christopher Lister Esquire, and after of Thomas Lister Esquire, both deceased, for Payment of the Legacies and Debts of the said Christopher Lister, and a Mortgage of the said Thomas Lister's;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with One Amendment, whereunto they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Sir J. Wentworth's Bill.

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the said Bill shall be, and is hereby, referred to Mr. Justice Tracey and Mr. Baron Smith; who are forthwith to summon all Parties that are to be concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands.

Forfeited Estates in Ireland, Bill to limit Time for Claims to.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for limiting a Time for Persons to come in and make their Claims to any of the forfeited Estates and other Interests in Ireland, sold by the Trustees for Sale of those Estates to the Governor and Company for making hollow Sword-blades in England, and divers other Purchasers."

Sir W. Windham's Bill.

After reading, and considering, the Report of the Judges to whom was referred the Consideration of the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable Sir William Windham, of Orchard Windham, in the County of Somerset, Baronet, to make a Marriage Settlement, and for other Purposes therein mentioned, during his Minority:"

It is Ordered, That the said Bill may be read a Second Time.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable Sir Wm. Windham, of (fn. 1) Orchord Windham, in the County of Somerset, Baronet, to make a Marriage Settlement, and for other Purposes therein mentioned, during his Minority."

Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet To-morrow, at Ten a Cock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.

L. Langdale's Complaint, of being committed for Recusancy at Beverly by the Deputy Lieutenants, &c.

Upon reading a Letter from the Lord Langdale, complaining of his being committed, on the Seventeenth Instant, by Warrant of the Deputy Lieutenants and Justices of the Peace for The East Riding of the County of York, and still detained at Beverly:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Letter of Complaint shall be, and is hereby, referred to the Lords Committees for Privileges; whose Lordships are to meet To-morrow, at Ten a Clock; and, having considered thereof, are to report their Opinions to the House.

Worsted Yarn Duty, Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for laying a further Duty on Woollen and Worsted Yarn imported into this Kingdom."

Ordered, That the said Bill shall be, and is hereby, rejected.

Langley & al. versus Baldwin & al.

Upon reading the Petition of Peter Langley Esquire and John Langley his Son; praying Leave to withdraw their Appeal depending in this House, to which Edward Baldwin and others are Respondents, there being a final Agreement among themselves; upon which, the Solicitors and Agents were examined, upon Oath, at the Bar (the Appellants and Respondents being out of Town), who declared, "They had Authority to sign the said Petition:"

It is thereupon Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioners have hereby Leave to withdraw their Appeal, according to the Prayer of the said Petition.

Dutchy of Cornwall, Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable Her Majesty to make Leases and Copies of Offices, Lands, and Hereditaments, Parcel of Her Dutchy of Cornwall, or annexed to the same.

Parke's Bill.

Then the House, pursuant to Order, was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to empower the Lord High Treasurer of Great Britain, or the Commissioners of the Treasury, for the Time being, to compound with Richard Parke, Citizen and late Merchant of London, for a Debt due to Her Majesty."

After some Time, The House was resumed.

And the Earl of Westmorland reported, "That the Committee had made some Progress in the Bill; and desired another Time may be appointed, for the House to proceed therein."

Ordered, That the House be put into a Committee again, to proceed further on the said Bill, To-morrow, at Eleven a Clock; and that Mr. Bridges do then attend.
