His Lordship was accordingly placed on the lower End of the Barons Bench; from whence he went to the upper End of the Earls Bench, and sat there as Lord Keeper of the Great Seal of England; and having also taken the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes, he returned to the Woolsack.

L. Pelham introduced:

This Day Sir Thomas Pelham Baronet being, by Letters Patents, dated Decimo Sexto Die Decembris, Anno Quinto Annæ Reginæ, created Baron Pelham of Laughton, was, in his Robes, introduced, between the Lord Howard of Effingham and the Lord Sommers (also in their Robes); the Deputy Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, Garter King of Arms, the Deputy Earl Marshal, and the Lord Great Chamberlain, preceding.

His Lordship presented his Patent to the Lord Keeper, on his Knee, at the Woolsack; who delivered it to the Clerk; where the same was read, at the Table.

Sir C. Wren to attend the L. G. Chamb. about Places for the Lords at St. Paul's.

The Lord Great Chamberlain acquainted the House, "That he had given his Orders to Sir Christopher Wren, to prepare a Place in St. Paul's Church, for the Reception of this House, on the Thanksgiving-day; but that he had made no Return to his Lordship."

It is thereupon Ordered, That Sir Christopher Wren do this Day attend the Lord Great Chamberlain of England, in order to give him an Account what is done, pursuant to the Order of this House of the Sixteenth Instant, for the preparing a Place in St. Paul's Church for this House to sit in, To-morrow; and that the Lord Great Chamberlain do report to this House, To-morrow, what is done therein.
