Continuing Acts, &c. Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for making perpetual an Act for the more easy Recovery of Small Tithes; and also an Act for the more easy obtaining Partition of Lands in Coparcenary, Joint Tenancy, and Tenancy in Common; and also for making perpetual and amending several Acts relating to the Return of Jurors."

ORDERED, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, To-morrow, at Twelve a Clock; and the Judges to attend.

Pitkins's Creditor's Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the better Relief of the Creditors of Thomas Pitkin, a Bankrupt, and for the Discovery of the fraudulent Practices of him and his Accomplices."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the Lords following:

Traiterous Correspondence, to prevent, Bill.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to prevent all traiterous Correspondence with Her Majesty's Enemies."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Stamford reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill; and think it sit to pass, with One Amendment."

Which Amendment was read Twice, and agreed to.

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill, with the Amendment, shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Two Judges to stay in Town.

ORDERED, That Two of the Judges do stay in Town, in order to attend the Service of this House.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That John Pinfold, William Luce, and Charles Beckingham, do attend the Lords Committees appointed to consider of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better Relief of the Creditors of Thomas Pitkin a Bankrupt; and for the Discovery of the fraudulent Practices of him and his Accomplices," Tomorrow, at Ten a Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers.

Attorney General to give an Account of Prosecutions ordered by this House.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Her Majesty's Attorney General do give this House an Account of the Prosecutions, ordered by this House, To-morrow, at Twelve a Clock.

Recruits for Land Service, &c. Bill:

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better recruiting Her Majesty's Land Forces, and the Marines, for the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Five."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Grey of Werke reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill; and think it sit to pass, without any Amendment."

Protest against a Clause in it.

Because there is in the Bill this following Clause; (videlicet,)

That it shall and may be lawful for the Justices of the Peace of every County and Riding within this Realm, or any Three or more of them, to raise and levy such able-bodied Men, as have not any lawful Calling or Employment, or visible Means for their Maintenance and Livelihood, to serve as Soldiers for the Purposes in the Bill mentioned.

Judges to prepare a Bill, for remedying Defects in the Laws relating to Papists.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, taking into Consideration the most effectual Ways to prevent the Growth of Popery:

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Judges do prepare and bring in a Bill, To-morrow, at Twelve a Clock, for remedying the Defects and enforcing the Act made in the Eleventh and Twelfth Years of King William the Third, intituled, "An Act for the further preventing the "Growth of Popery;" and also a Clause in the Bill to prevent the Alienation of Advowsons in Papists Hands.

Address, that the Laws against Papists may be put in Execution.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lords with White Staves do attend Her Majesty, humbly to desire, from this House, "That Her Majesty will please to give Orders to the Justices of the Peace throughout England, to take an exact Account of the Numbers of the Papists and reputed Papists in their respective Counties, and also of their Qualities and Estates, and Places of their Abode; and that they do transmit the same to Her Majesty in Council, signed by the said Justices; and that Her Majesty will be pleased to order the same to be laid before this House at the First Meeting of the next Parliament; and that Her Majesty will be also pleased to order the Laws to be forthwith put in Execution against all Popish Priests."

Bishops to take an Account of the Numbers of Papists.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lords the Archbishops and Bishops do cause the several Ministers, within their respective Dioceses, to return to them an exact Account of the Numbers of the Papists and reputed Papists in their respective Parishes, and also of their Qualities and Estates, and Places of their Abode; and that their Lordships do transmit the same to this House the First Meeting of the next Parliament, together with an Account of all the Presentations of Livings in their several Dioceses, in the Gift of Papists or reputed Papists.
