PRAYERS.

King's Death, the House acquainted with; and proclaiming the Queen:

The Earl of Manchester, One of the Principal Secretaries of State, by Her Majesty's Command, informed the House, "That the Queen's Majesty in Council had commanded him to acquaint their Lordships, That it hath pleased GOD, at Eight a Clock this Morning, to take away our late Sovereign; and that Orders are issued, in the usual Form, to proclaim Her Majesty at Three a Clock this Afternoon."

Message to H. C. for a Conference about it.

Then a Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Richard Holford and Mr. Pitt:

To desire a present Conference, in the Painted Chamber, upon an extraordinary Occasion, that hath happened this Morning.

ORDERED, That all the Lords present be a Committee, and Managers, to draw what shall be offered at the Conference.

And then the Lords withdrew.

The Messengers sent to the House of Commons return Answer:

That the Commons agree to a present Conference, as desired.

The Lord Steward reported what the Committee had drawn up to be offered at the Conference.

Which was read, and agreed to, as follows; (videlicet,)

Heads for the Conference.

Whereas it hath pleased ALMIGHTY GOD to take to Himself the late King William the Third, of Glorious Memory; the Princess Anne being the only rightful and lawful Queen of these Realms; the Lords have thought fit to acquaint the Commons, That Orders are given, in the usual Form, for proclaiming Her Majesty at Three a Clock this Afternoon."

ORDERED, That this be communicated to the Commons, at a Conference.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure; and the Lords went to the Conference.

Which being ended, the House was resumed.

Conference reported.

And the Lord Steward reported, "That they had delivered the Paper, as ordered."

After which, the House was adjourned during Pleasure; and the Lords withdrew presently, to draw an Address to Her Majesty.

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Peterborow reported the Address, as drawn by the Committee.

Which, with some Alterations, was read, and agreed to by the House, and is as followeth; (videlicet,)

Address to the Queen.

"We, Your Majesty's most dutiful and loyal Subjects, the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, though deeply sensible of the unspeakable Loss this Nation hath sustained by the Decease of His late Majesty, of Glorious Memory, do, at the same Time, most heartily congratulate Your Majesty's happy Accession to the Throne, and with all Loyalty and Duty assure Your Majesty of our zealous and firm Resolutions to support Your undoubted Right and Title, and the Succession of the Protestant Line, as by Law established, against all Your Enemies whatsoever; being sensible our great Loss is no otherwise to be repaired, to ourselves or our Confederates, but by a most sincere and vigorous Adherence to Your Majesty and Your Allies, in the Prosecution of those Measures already entered into, to reduce the exorbitant Power of France: And we will ever make it appear to Your Majesty and the World, that our Zeal and Affection for Your Majesty's Service, and the Care we have of the public Safety, engage us to exert ourselves with the utmost Vigour and Union, for obtaining, under Your Majesty's Reign, such a Balance of Power and Interest, as may effectually secure the Liberties of Europe.

"And we further humbly desire, that, for the Encouragement of Your Majesty's Allies, no Time may be lost in communicating to them Your Majesty's Resolutions of adhering firmly to the Alliances already made: And we shall never be wanting, to the utmost of our Power, to enable Your Majesty to maintain the same."

Lords with White Staves to attend Her Majesty.

ORDERED, That the Lords with White Staves do attend Her Majesty, humbly to know what Time Her Majesty will please to appoint, for this House to attend Her with the Address.

Adjourn.

Dominus Custos Magni Sigilli declaravit præsens Parliamentum continuandum esse usque ad et in diem Lunæ, nonum diem instantis Martii, hora undecima Auroræ, Dominis sic decernentibus.
