Upon reading of the abovesaid Bills, a Debate arose.

Message from H. C. to return the Bp. of Winchester's Bill, for Alverstoke Water-works.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Mathew Andrews and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for confirming a Lease, granted by the Lord Bishop of Winchester, of a Parcel of Waste Ground in Alverstock, in the County of South'ton, for the erecting of Water-works there, and for improving the same;" to which they have agreed, with some Amendments, whereunto they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

New Forest, for Increase of Timber in, Bill.

After hearing Counsel and Witnesses, for and against the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the Increase and Preservation of Timber in The New Forest, in the County of Southampton:"

Bradshawe versus D. Newcastle.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear Counsel, upon the Petition and Appeal of Sir Cornwall Bradshaw, and the Answers of the Duke of Newcastle, William Sutton, and Andrew Card, put in thereunto, on Monday the Sixteenth Day of this Instant May, at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Woollen Manufactures, Bill to encourage:

The Earl of Stamford reported from the Committee appointed to consider of the Bill, intituled, "An Act to encourage the Woollen Manufacture in England, and to restrain the Exportation of the Woollen Manufactures from Ireland into any Foreign Parts, and for the better preventing the Exportation of Wool from England and Ireland:" That the Committee is informed there are Papers in the Hands of the Clerks of the Council, and especially some Heads of a Bill relating to the Linen Manufacture to be established in Ireland, which may be of Use in this Matter."

Address to the King, for Papers concerning the Linen Manufacture in Ireland.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lords with White Staves do attend His Majesty, from this House, humbly to desire, "That He will be pleased to give Order, that the Copies of such Papers as were transmitted into Ireland, by the Lords Justices (during His Majesty's Absence), relating to the settling of the Linen Manufacture there, may be laid before this House."
