Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the speedy Payment of the Debts of Sir William Thompson Knight, Serjeant at Law, deceased."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the Lords following; (videlicet,)

Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet on Friday next, at Nine of the Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.

Church, Warden of The Fleet, versus Leighton's Bill.

Upon reading the Petition of Anthony Church, Warden of The Fleet (with an Order annexed); praying, "That he may be heard, by his Counsel, before the Second Reading of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for Relief of Baldwin Leighton Esquire, in relation to the Office of Warden of The Fleete."

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioner shall be heard, by One Counsel, on Saturday the Seven and Twentieth Day of this Instant March, at Eleven of the Clock; as also One Counsel for Mr. Leighton.

Messages from H. C. with a Bill; and to return St. Paul's and Westminster Abbey Bill

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Poultney and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the compleating the building and adorning the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, London; and for repairing the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to their Lordships Amendments made to the said Bill.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Hoar and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for repealing a Clause in a former Act, relating to Party Guiles; and for the better preventing Frauds and Abuses of Brewers and others chargeable with the Duties of Excise;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

E. Derby versus Sawrey.

After hearing Counsel this Day for the Earl of Derby, and hearing the Barons of the Exchequer, in relation to the Commitment of Mr. Gibson Attorney at Law; and Debate thereupon:

This Question was put, "Whether any common Attorney or Solicitor, employed by any Lord, shall be allowed Privilege of Parliament?"

It was Resolved in the Negative.

Attornies and Solicitors of Peers, no Privilege.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That no common Attorney or Solicitor, though employed by any Peer or Lord of this House, shall be allowed Privilege of Parliament; and that this Order be entered on the Roll of Standing Orders.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Sir Rowland Gwyn and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the further Encouragement of the Manufacture of Lustrings and Alamodes within this Realm; and for the better preventing the Importation of prohibited Goods, and Goods without paying the Duties charged on the same;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Sawrey versus E. Derby, Privilege waived.

After hearing Counsel this Day for the Earl of Derby, and the Barons of the Exchequer, in relation to the Commitment of Mr. Gibson Attorney at Law, for procuring the Attournments of Mr. Sawrey's Tenants to the Earl of Derby, after the Verdict obtained by the said Earl at Lancaster Assizes; and Debate thereupon:

The Earl of Derby offered, and consented, "That all the Attournments of Tenants obtained since the said Trial shall be delivered up and vacated, and the Possession of the Premises in Question to be as it was at the Time of the Verdict;" his Lordship also declaring, "That he waived all Privilege in this Cause."

To which the House agreed.

Countess Derby versus E. Derby.

Whereas this Day was appointed for resuming the Consideration of the Petition of the Countess Dowager of Derby; praying Liberty to sue the Earl of Derby her Son:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Earl may have a Copy of the said Petition, and Answer thereunto, in Writing, on Saturday next, at Eleven of the Clock.

Countess Radnor versus Vandebendy & al.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of the Right Honourable Sarah Countess Dowager of Radnor, Relict of the late Right Honourable Robert Roberts Esquire, who was Son and Heir of the Right Honourable John Earl of Radnor deceased, from a Decree of Dismission made by the Court of Chancery, the Thirteenth of this Instant March, in a Cause there depending, wherein the Petitioner was Plaintiff, against John Vandebendy Esquire, Sir John Rotheram Serjeant at Law, and others, (fn. 1) were Defendants; and praying, "That the said John Vandebendy, Sir John Rotheram, and the other Defendants, may answer thereunto:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said John Vandebendy, Sir John Rotheram, and the other Defendants, may have a Copy of the said Petition and Appeal; and do put in their Answer or respective Answers thereunto, in Writing, on Thursday the First Day of April next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.
