Small Tithes, for more easy Recovery of, Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the more easy Recovery of Small Tithes."

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Bill shall be read the Second Time on Thursday the Three and Twentieth Day of this Instant January, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Lord F. Pawlett's Bill.

The Earl of Bridgewater reported from the Committee, the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable the Lord Francis Powlet to settle Four Hundred and Fifty Pounds per Annum, Annuities, on his Younger Children, as a Provision for them," as fit to pass, with some Amendments.

Which, being read Twice, were agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendments.

Dawson's Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for vesting Part of the Estate of Joseph Dawson Esquire in Trustees, for Payment of Debts, and for a Provision for the Maintenance and Marriage of his Daughters."

Annuities, &c. to enlarge the Time for purchasing, and to continue the Duty on Low Wines, Bill.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Times to come in and purchase certain Annuities therein mentioned; and for continuing the Duties on Low Wines, or Spirits of the First Extraction, for carrying on the War against France."

After some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Bishop of Salisbury reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill; and think it fit to pass, without any Amendment."

To which the House agreed.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for remedying the ill State of the Coin of the Kingdom;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Sir Rich. Verney s Petition, for a Writ of Summons, considered:

Then the House took into Consideration the Petition of Sir Richard Verney Knight, presented to His Majesty, praying a Writ of Summons to Parliament; and His Majesty's Reference thereupon to this House.

And, after some Time spent in Debate,

To be heard by Counsel:

This Question was put, "Whether the Petitioner Sir Richard Verney shall be heard, at the Bar, by his Counsel, upon this Petition?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Protest against it:

"Leave having been asked, and given, to any Lords to protest, if the Question should be carried in the Affirmative: We, whose Names are underwritten, do protest, for the Reasons following; (videlicet,)

"Dissentient:

"1. Because, as it seems to us, the Petitioner's Case has been already heard and adjudged in this House, upon his former Petition; whereby he claimed to have a Writ of Summons to Parliament from the same Ancestor, by the same Pedigree, and under the same Writ of Summons, by which he makes his Claim in this Petition.

"2. Because the Judgement given by this House upon Sir Richard Verney's former Petition was not, that he had no Right to a Writ of Summons by the Name of Lord Broke; but generally, that he had no Right to a Writ of Summons upon his Case as stated in his Petition.

"3. Because, we conceive, it may tend infinitely to prejudice the Judicature of this House, and to weaken the Security that all Subjects have by the Judgements of this great Court, if the Lords shall permit Judgements once given in so solemn a Manner to be reviewed.

After Consideration this Day had, upon the Petition of Sir Richard Verney Knight, presented to His Majesty (praying a Writ of Summons to Parliament); and His Majesty's Reference thereupon to this House:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioner Sir Richard Verney shall be heard, at the Bar, by his Counsel, upon the said Petition, on Monday the Seven and Twentieth Day of this Instant January, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon: And it is further ORDERED, That the King's Learned Counsel at Law have Notice thereof, in order to be heard at that Time, in case they shall see Cause to offer any Matter on His Majesty's Behalf upon the said Petition; and the Heralds are also ordered to attend at the same Time.

Lustring Company, against the Bill for supplying a Defect in an Act concerning Alamodes, &c. and Glass Ware, &c.:

Upon reading the Petition of the Royal Lustring Company, for making and dressing Alamodes, Renforces, and Lustrings, in England; praying, "That they may be heard, at the Bar, to give their Reasons against the Bill, intituled, "An Act to supply the Defects of an Act made the last Session of Parliament, intituled, "An Act for granting to His Majesty certain Duties upon Glass Wares, Stone and Earthen Bottles, Coals, and Culm, for carrying on the War against France:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioners shall be heard, by themselves or Counsel, on Friday the Four and Twentieth Day of this Instant January, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; on which Day the said Bill shall be read the Second Time; and that the Witnesses summoned for the Weavers do then attend; and that they be heard, by their Counsel, for the said Bill.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That John Satchwell, Joseph Webster, Nahum Crosby, Joseph Row, Thomas Burton, Jeremiah Cattlyn, Daniell Rape, Robert Melton, Robert Painter, Samuel Golder, Richard Marwall, Thomas Goodwin, and William Probie, shall and they are hereby required to attend this House on Friday the Four and Twentieth Day of this Instant January, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, as Witnesses on the Behalf of the Royal Lustring Company.

Admiralty Papers, Committee to consider.

Whereas Monday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, is appointed for the Committee to meet, who are to consider of the Papers delivered into this House from the Commissioners of the Admiralty:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Committee shall be adjourned to Tuesday next, at Nine of the Clock in the Forenoon; and that the Commissioners of the Admiralty have Notice thereof, and are hereby desired then to attend at the said Committee.
