The Lords following took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, pursuant to the Statutes:

Then the said Charles Lord Ossulstone sat first in Parliament, upon the Death of his Father John Lord Ossulstone.

Powell's Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for vesting several Messuages and Lands belonging to Samuell Powell Esquire in Trustees, for Payment of his Debts."

ORDERED, That the said Bill be not read a Second Time, till after Twelve of the Clock.

Turkey Company, Objections to the Scots Act for establishing an East India Company.

Whereas this Day was appointed for the Turkey Company to lay before this House in Writing, what they conceive may be the proper Means to remedy the Inconveniencies arising by the late Act of Parliament made in Scotland, for establishing an East India Company there; and they desiring further Time:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That they have Time allowed them for that Purpose, until Tuesday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Baily to attend, about the Case of the Ship Avarilla.

Upon reading a Paper, delivered the Tenth Instant, concerning the Ship Avarilla, signed by Mr. Bayly:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Mr. Bayly do attend this House To-morrow, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Papers delivered, and Parties heard, concerning the Scots Act for establishing an East India Company:

Mr. Blackwood and Mr. Balfoore were heard, in relation to the Books of Subscriptions for establishing an East India Company in Scotland.

And the Commissioners of the Customs, the East India Company, and other Companies and Merchants, having delivered their Papers, as ordered:

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee, to consider further of the State of the Nation, in relation to the late Act of Parliament in Scotland, for establishing an East India Company there.

After some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

Committee to prepare an Address, representing the Inconveniencies of it to the Trade of this Kingdom.

And the Earl of Huntingdon reported, "That the Committee was of Opinion, that the House should be moved, that an humble Address be made to His Majesty, to represent to Him, the great Prejudice, Inconveniencies, and Mischiefs, the Act for establishing an East India Company in Scotland may be to the Trade of this Kingdom."

To which the House agreed; and named the following Lords to be a Committee, to draw the Address; (videlicet,)

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That on Saturday next, at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon, this House shall be put into a Committee, to proceed further upon the Consideration of the Papers this Day laid before the House, by the Commissioners of the Customs, the East India and other Companies and Merchants, relating to Remedies to prevent the Inconveniencies which may arise by a late Act of Parliament for establishing an East India Company in Scotland.
