Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable Elizabeth Howland, the Widow of John Howland Esquire, deceased, to settle Lands upon the Marriage of his sole Daughter and Heir; and for settling Lands upon the Widow Howland for her Life, in Lieu of Dower; and for indemnifying Sir Josias Child and the said Widow Howland, Grandfather and Mother of the said Heir, in disposing of the Personal Estate belonging to her, upon her Preferment in Marriage, she being under the Age of One and Twenty Years."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

The Lord Chief Justice of His Majesty's Court of King's Bench, in the usual Manner, brought in Two Writs of Error:

State of the Fleet:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Commissioners of the Admiralty do attend, and lay before this House, in Writing, on Saturday next, at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon, Answers to the following Questions:

Questions to the Commissioners of the Admiralty.

"1. Why the Squadron, appointed to cruize in the Soundings, when the Barbadoes Fleet was expected, in September One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-three, was recalled before that Fleet came Home?

"2. What Care they have taken, in the Years 1693 and 1694, to prevent Corn Ships and Naval Stores, from going for France?

"3. What Care they have taken, in the said Years, to interrupt the French Coasting Trade?

"4. Why they appointed single Cruizers from Time to Time in the said Years, and not Squadrons in proper Stations?

"5. Why they committed the Care of the Stores and Provisions sent to the Fleet in The Mediterranean, and the Stores coming from The Baltick and New England, to so slender Convoys?

"6. What Cruizers and Convoys there have been for a Year and a Half last past upon the Northern Coast? and what are now there?"

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the further Consideration of the State of the Fleet shall be resumed on Saturday next, at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon.
