Brooke versus Brooke.
Upon reading the Petition of the Lady Brooke and her Children, Infants, by Christopher Tomlinson Merchant her First Husband, and others; praying, "That Charles Fleetewood Esquire, of the Town of North'ton, may enter into Recognizance for her:"
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Charles Fleetewood may enter into a Recognizance for the Appellant, as desired.
Turner versus Adams, Ward, & al.
Upon reading the Petition of Sir Edward Turner; shewing, "That James Ward and others, Plaintiffs in an Appeal lately depending in this House, have sued out a Scire facias against the Petitioner, upon a Judgement in Ejectment, although they were served with the Order of this House for a Hearing, on the Petitioner's Petition, To-morrow; and praying the Stay of Proceedings in the Courts below, upon the said Judgement in Ejectment, until the Matter of the First Petition shall be here determined:"
It is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That all Proceedings in the Courts below, upon the said Judgement in Ejectment, shall be suspended until Saturday next.
Land Tax Bill:
Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for granting to Their Majesties an Aid of Four Shillings in the Pound, for One Year, for carrying on a vigorous War against France."
ORDERED, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, presently.
Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee thereupon.
After some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.
Amendments to it.
And the Lord Godolphin reported, "That the Committee of the whole House had gone through the said Bill, with some Amendments."
Which were read Twice, and agreed to, as followeth; (videlicet,)
"6 Pr. 3 L. For ["Receipt or Receipts"], read ["Precept or Precepts"].
"10 Pr. 26 L. Before ["transcribe"], read ["to"].
"31 Pr. 20 L. Leave out ["any"] before the Word ["Receiver"].
ORDERED, That the said Bill be read the Third Time To-morrow.

Whereas To-morrow is appointed for hearing One Counsel upon the Matter in the Petition of Sir Edward Turner; as also One Counsel for James Ward and others:
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That they shall be heard thereupon on Friday next, at Eleven of the Clock.
Grahme versus Stamper.
After the House having resumed the Consideration of the Case, upon the Petition of James Grahme, and the Answer of Francis Stamper:
It is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will further consider thereof To-morrow, at Twelve of the Clock.
Sir S. Swale versus Winchcomb.
Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Sir Solomon Swale Baronet (Son of Henry Swale deceased), and Grandson of Sir Solomon Swale, from a Decree made in the Court of Chancery, the Three and Twentieth Day of February last, on Behalf of Anne Winchcombe Widow, and Relict of John Winchcombe Esquire deceased, and Daughter of Sir Solomon Swale Baronet deceased; and praying the Reversal of the said Decree:
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Anne Winchcombe may have a Copy of the said Petition; and shall and she is hereby required to put in her Answer thereunto, in Writing, on Wednesday the Seventh Day of February next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.
E. of Maclesfeld introduced.
This Day Charles Earl of Maclesfeld sat first in Parliament, upon the Death of his Father Charles Earl of Maclesfeld; and took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, pursuant to the Statutes in that Case; and then took his Place on the Earls Bench.
His Writ bears Date the Three and Twentieth January, 5° Gul. et Mar.
