Lords take the Oaths.

The Lords following took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, pursuant to the Statutes:

Lord Raby introduced, claiming by a special Limitation in Remainder.

This Day Thomas Lord Raby, claiming by virtue of a special Limitation in Remainder to Sir William Wentworth his Grandfather, who was Second Brother to Thomas Earl of Strafford (and so not claiming by Descent), was introduced, between the Lord Guilford and the Lord Weston; the Lord Great Chamberlain and the King at Arms going before, carrying the Exemplification of the Letters Patents of Creation, delivered it to the Lord Raby, who gave it to the Lord Keeper on his Knee; which was read at the Table.

The Letters Patents bear Date, 12° Die Januarii, Anno 15° Car. Primi. And his Writ was read, as followeth:

"Gulielmus Tertius, Dei Gratia, Angl. Scoc. Franc. et Hib'niæ Rex, Fidei Defensor, &c. Prædilecto et Fideli Nostro Thomæ Wentworth de Raby, Ch'r Salutem: Quia, de Avisamento et Assensu Concilii Nostri, pro quibusdam arduis et urgentibus Negotiis, Nos, Statum et Defensionem Regni Nostri Angl. et Ecclesiæ Anglicanæ concernen. quoddam Parliamentum Nostrum apud Civitatem Nostram Westm. Vicesimo Secundo Die Instantis Novembris, teneri ordinavimus; et ibidem, vobiscum, ac cum Prælatis, Magnatibus, et Proceribus dicti Regni Nostri, Colloquium habere et Tractatum: Vobis, in Fide et Dilectione quibus Nobis tenemini, firmiter injungendo mandamus, quod, consideratis dictorum Negotiorum Arduitate et Periculis incumbentibus, cessante Excusatione quacunque, dictis Die et Loco personaliter intersitis, Nobiscum, ac cum Prælatis, Magnatibus, et Proceribus prædict. super dictis Negotiis tractatur. vestrumque Consilium impensur.
