ORDERED, That the Consideration of this Bill is committed to these Lords following:
Their Lordships, or any Three of them; to meet on Monday, at Nine of the Clock in the Morning, in the Prince's Lodgings; and to adjourn as they please.
Land Tax Bill.
The House was put into a Committee, to consider of an Act for a Grant to Their Majesties, of an Aid of Two Shillings in the Pound, for One Year.
The House being resumed;
The Lord Viscount Newport reported, "That the Committee of the House have been in Consideration of the Aid to be granted to Their Majesties; and have made some Amendments therein, which are offered to the Consideration of the House."
Which Amendments were read Twice, and Agreed to.
Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, an Act, intituled, "An Act for a Grant to Their Majesties of an Aid of Two Shillings in the Pound, for One Year."
The Question being put, "Whether this Bill, with the Amendments now read, shall pass into a Law?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Message to H. C. with it.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Baron Nevill and Judge Gregory:
To carry down the Bill for granting an Aid to Their Majesties; wherein the Lords have made some Amendments, and desire the Concurrence of the Commons therein.
Goodrich versus Crossman.
Upon reading the humble Petition of William Goodrich; shewing, "That, upon his Appeal to this House, he hoped to have obtained some Relief from the Proceeding of James Crossman, Vicar of Banwell, in Com. Somerset, in the Court of Exchequer, against your Petitioner, who, by Sequestration, seized his Personal and Real Estate, which is all he hath to satisfy the said Vicar, and yet, after near 15 Years Imprisonment, he is still continued a Prisoner; and praying, that, in Consideration his Estate is liable to make good the Sequestration, he may be discharged from his Imprisonment:"
Goodrich to be released from his Imprisonment.
It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said William Goodrich shall be, and is hereby, discharged from his present Imprisonment, which he lies under, by Order, Decree, Process, or Judgement of the Court of Exchequer, without any Prejudice to the said Sequestration.
To the Warden of The Fleete, his Deputy and Deputies, and every of them.
Ashfield versus Ashfield.
Whereas this Day was appointed for hearing the (fn. 2) Cause wherein Richard and Anne Ashfeild are Plaintiffs, and Dorcas Lady Ashfeild Defendant:
It is ORDERED, That this House will hear the said Cause on Tuesday the 24th Instant, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.
Thwaites versus Deye & Ux.
The House being moved, "That a Day may be appointed, for hearing the Appeal depending in this House, wherein John Deye is Plaintiff, and James Thwaites Defendant, and Proceedings stayed in the Courts below:"
It is ORDERED, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel on both Sides, (fn. 3) at the Bar, on the First Monday of the Meeting of the Parliament after the Recess at Christmas; and that in the mean Time all Proceedings in the Courts below shall be stayed; whereof the said John Deye is to cause timely Notice to be given to the said James Thwaites, to the End he attend with his Counsel accordingly.
