Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act to enable Trustees to grant Leases of the Estate of Richard Hele Esquire."

Message from H. C. to remind the Lords of the following Bills.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Sacheverell and others;

To put their Lordships in Mind of Four Bills of Importance, depending in this House:

1. A Bill for declaring the Rights and Liberties of (fn. 2) Subject, and settling the Succession of the Crown.

2. A Bill for attainting several Persons now in Rebellion against Their Majesties.

3. A Bill for reversing Two Judgements in the Court of King's Bench, against Titus Oates.

4. The Bill for ordering the Forces in the several Counties of this Kingdom.

Duty on Tea, Coffee, &c. Bill.

The Earl of Rochester reported from the Committee, to whom was re-committed the Bill for collecting the Duties upon Coffee, Tea, and Chocolate, at the Custom-house, "That the Committee had made an Alteration of the Date from 24 of July, to the 20th of August."

Which, being read, was Agreed to.

Also he reported a Clause to be added to the said Bill.

Which was read.

And, after some Debate,

The Question being put, "Whether this Clause shall be added to the Bill?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for collecting the Duties upon Coffee, Tea, and Chocolate, at the Custom-house."

The Question being put, "Whether this Bill, with the Amendment and Clause now read, shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. with it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Miles Cooke and Mr. Meredith:

To return this Bill for collecting the Duties of Coffee, Tea, and Chocolate; to which the Lords have thought fit to make an Amendment and add a Clause, to which their Concurrence is desired.

ORDERED, That the Duke of Bolton, Viscount Sydney, and the Lord Ossulston, be added to the Committee for the Bill for ordering the Forces in the several Counties of this Kingdom.

Bill for reversing Judgements against Otes.

Next, the House took into Consideration the Reasons of the House of Commons, delivered at the last Conference with them, why they did not agree to the Lords Amendments made to the Bill concerning reversing the Two Judgements against Titus Oates, (fn. 3) were read.

And the Amendments were read.

The First Amendment is, Leave out ["the said Verdicts brought in against the said Titus Otes were corrupt and]." Read.

The Question was put, "Whether their Lordships insist upon their own Amendment?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Then the Second Amendment; the Lords do insist on.

To the 3d Amendment; the Lords do insist.

To the 4th Amendment; the Lords do insist.

To the 5th Amendment; the Lords do insist.

Then the Proviso was read; and the Lords insist.

Reasons to be prepared for the Lords insisting on their Amendments to it.

The Lords hereupon named these Lords to be a Committee, to draw up Reasons to be offered at a Conference with the House of Commons, for their Lordships insisting upon their Amendments, and report the same to this House.

Any Three; to meet To-morrow, at Nine of the Clock in the Morning, in the Prince's Lodgings.
