Chettell's Bill:

The Lord North reported, "That the Lords Committees for the Bill to enable Thomas Chettell to sell Land, for Payment of his Debts, have considered that Bill; and do think it fit to pass, with some Amendments."

Which were read Twice, and Agreed to.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act to enable Thomas Chettell to sell Part of his Estate, for Payment of his Debts, and making Provision for his Wife."

The Question being put, "Whether this Bill, with the Amendments, shall pass for a Law?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. with it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Miles Cooke and Sir Lacon Childe:

To return the Bill to enable Thomas Chettell to sell Part of his Estate, for Payment of his Debts, and making Provision for his Wife; wherein the Lords have made some Amendments, and desire the Concurrence of the Commons therein.

Message from thence, with a Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Eldred, &c.:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for reversing Two Judgements given in the Court of King's Bench, against Titus Oates Clerk;" to which the Commons desire the Concurrence of this House.

Bill to reverse Judgements against Oates.

Downing reprimanded, and released.

William Downing was brought to the Bar; and, kneeling, was reprehended by the Speaker, for his Offence committed against this House.

Who, having submitted himself, and begged the Pardon of this House, was discharged from his Imprisonment.

Pilkington & al. versus the late K. James, in Error.

Whereas there is a Writ of Error depending in this House, wherein Sir Thomas Pilkington and others are Plaintiffs, and the late King James the Second Defendant:

It is ORDERED, That this House will hear the Errors argued thereupon, by Counsel on both Sides, at the Bar, on Saturday the 14th of July Instant, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the Plaintiffs are to cause Notice to be given to Their Majesties Attorney General.

Tunstal versus Smith, in Error.

Upon hearing Counsel this Day, upon the Writ of Error wherein Barnaby Tunstall is Plaintiff and Thomas Smith Defendant; and there appearing to be a Mistake in the Writ:

It is thereupon ORDERED, That the said Writ of Error be withdrawn, in order to be amended in the Words of the Writ.

Sir J. Sydenham versus Terry.

Upon reading the Petition of Sir John Sydenham; shewing, "That he being made a joint Trustee, and the Defendant Strode, and Four others since deceased, by the Right Honourable John Lord Pawlett, late of Hinton, in the County of Somerset, deceased, in Trust for the Payment of his Lordship's Debts, and afterwards in Trust for the now John Lord Pawlet the Plaintiff; complaining of a Decree made in the Court of Chancery the 26th Day of June, 1689; and prays all Parties may attend, to answer the Premises in the Petition set forth:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That John Terry, Plaintiff in the Court of Chancery, may have a Copy of the said Petition; and be, and is hereby, required to put in his Answer thereunto, in Writing, on Wednesday the 17th of July Instant, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the Petitioners are to cause timely Notice to be given to the Defendants, to the End they may answer accordingly.

Sir J. Mill versus Noy & al.

Whereas Monday next was appointed, for hearing the Cause wherein Sir John Mill is Plaintiff, and Hester Noy and others are Defendants:

It is ORDERED, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel on both Sides, at the Bar, on Tuesday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.
