Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir John Guise and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for transferring the Duty of Alnage to the Customhouse;" to which they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Alnage Duty, for transferring to the Custom-house, Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for transferring the Duty of Alnage to the Custom-house."

Dutchess of Richmond & al. to be heard against it.

Upon reading the Petition of Frances Dutchess Dowager of Richmond & Lenox and others, Farmers of the ancient Duties of Subsidy and Alnage on Woollen Manufactures under the said Dutchess and her Trustees; praying, "That they may be heard, by their Counsel, before the Committee, or passing of the Bill, intituled, An Act for the transferring the Duty of Alnage to the Custom-house:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Dutchess, and the other Petitioners, (or any others who shall think themselves concerned therein) shall be heard, by their Counsel, on Friday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, what they have to say for or against the said Bill.

E. of Aylesbury's Bill.

Whereas the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable Thomas Earl of Aylesbury, and Elizabeth Countess of Aylesbury his Wife, to make Provision for Payment of Debts, and to make Leases of their Estates," was on Saturday last ordered to be engrossed; and this Day some Scruples arising on the said Bill:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Bill shall be re-committed to the same Committee as before; whose Lordships are to meet To-morrow, at Eight of the Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers.

Jones's Petition of Appeal rejected.

Upon Report from the Lords Committees for Petitions, the Petition and Appeal of Herbert Jones Defendant, from a Decretal Order made in the Court of Exchequer, the 29th Day of June 1689, and a final Decree made thereupon the 27th Day of November now last past, in a Cause depending in the said Court, between Mr. Attorney General Complainant, and your Petitioner now Appellant and others Defendants; whose Lordships are of Opinion, "That the said Petition is not fit to be retained or heard by the House:"

To which Report the House agreed; and it is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition of Herbert Jones shall be, and is hereby, rejected.

Myres & al. Tenants of Millom, &c. versus Huddleston & al.

Upon Report from the Lords Committees for Petitions, the Petition and Appeal of Edmond Myres, William Brockbanck, William Munigster, Fardinando Crocardson, John Fox, Ralph Elletson, Jn° Smith, Edward Jackson, Tho. Waters, Jn° Lewthwaite, Hugh Atkinson, George Nicolson, Tho. Cragg, Eliz. Hunter Widow, and divers other Customary Tenants within the several Manors or Lordships of Millom, Kirk Santon, Satterton, Bootle Corney, Witcham, Whitbeck Ulpha, in the County of Cumberland, as well on their own Behalfs, as on the Behalf of the rest of the Tenants of the said several Manors or Lordships; and complaining of a Dismission of their Bill in the Court of Chancery, the 27th of November 1690, made ex Parte on the Hearing of the said Cause on the Equity reserved, was dismissed with Costs; and praying to be relieved therein; and that Joseph Hudleston, and Richard Hudleston, and Thomas Benson, may put in their Answers thereunto:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Joseph Hudleston and Richard Hudleston, and Tho. Benson may have a Copy of the said Petition; and be, and they are hereby, required to put in their Answer or respective Answers thereunto, in Writing, on the Third Day of the Meeting of the Parliament after the Recess now at Hand; and that, in the mean Time, all Proceedings in the Courts below be stayed.
