L. Gerrard takes the Oaths.
This Day the Lord Gerard of Brandon took the Oaths of Supremacy and Allegiance, and subscribed the Declaration against Transubstantiation, pursuant to the Act for preventing the Dangers which may happen from Popish Recusants. The Witnesses were sworn, and examined by the Lord Chancellor, as to the Truth of his Lordship's Certificate concerning his receiving of the LORD'S Supper.
Treaty with The States General.
The Lord Chancellor acquainted the House, "That he had several Papers, which had passed between His Majesty's Commissioners and the Ambassador and Envoy of The States Generall, which will be necessary for their Lordships Information, in order to their giving Advice to His Majesty."
The said Papers were read:
"1. A Translate of a Paper given by His Majesty's Commissioners to the Dutch Ministers, May the 3d, 1678."
"2. A Translate of the Dutch Ambassador's and Envoy's Answer to the Paper given them by His Majesty's Commissioners, May 4th, 1678, at Westminster.
"W. Beuningen. D. Leyden Van Leewen."
The House, after Debate what Advice was fit to be given His Majesty upon the Treaties with The States Generall, ordered, That this House adjourns the further Debate of this Business till Saturday Morning next.
Adjourn.
