Ld. Grey of Wark introduced.

This Day Ralph Lord Grey de Warke sat first in Parliament as a Peer, upon Decease of William Lord Grey his Father.

His Writ of Summons bears Date the Fifth Day of November, Anno (fn. 1) Regis Nostri Caroli Secundi Vicesimo Sexto.

The Lord Keeper signified to the House, "That His Majesty hath been pleased to create William Lord Powis Earl of Powis, John Duke of Lauderdale Earl of Guildford, and Thomas Vicecomes Latymer Lord High Treasurer of England Earl of Danby; and that their Lordships were ready in the Lobby, to know the Pleasure of the House for their Introduction."

Whereupon the House directed them to be called in, and introduced.

E. of Powis introduced.

Then William Earl of Powis was introduced, in his Parliament Robes, between the Earl of Anglesey Lord Privy Seal, and the Earl of Craven, the Earl of Suffolke going before, supplying the Place of the Earl Marshal of England, being all in their Robes.

Garter King at Arms, carrying his Patent, delivered the same to the Earl of Powis, who delivered the same unto the Lord Keeper, kneeling; and he delivering the same unto the Clerk of the Parliaments, it was read, and bears Date the Fourth Day of April, Anno 26 Caroli Secundi; and afterwards his Lordships was conducted and placed at the lower End of the Earls Bench.

E. of Guildford introduced.

In the same Manner John Earl of Guildford was introduced, between the Earl of Oxon and the Earl of Strafford, being in their Parliament Robes.

His Patent bears Date the 25 Day of June, in the 26th Year of King Charles the Second; and the Writ of Summons to Parliament, dated the Seventh Day of this Instant November: Which being both read, his Lordships was placed on the lower End of the Earls Bench.

E. of Danby introduced.

In the like Manner Thomas Earl of Danby was introduced, between the Earl of Dover and the Earl of Craven.

His Patent (there being no Writ of Summons) was read, bearing Date the 27th of June, in the 26th Year of King Charles the Second: Which being done, his Lordship was placed on the lower End of the Earls Bench.

After this, the Lord Keeper acquainted the House, "That the King had granted a Commission, under the Great Seal of England, for the further Prorogation of this Parliament."

Hereupon the Lord Keeper, having the Archbishop of Cant. the Lord Privy Seal, and the Earl of Bridgwater, on his Right Hand; the Lord Treasurer, the Marquis of Worcester, and the Lord Newport, on his Left Hand; Seven of the Commissioners, sitting upon a Form cross the House between the Throne and the Woolsack; the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod was commanded to give the House of Commons Notice of the said Commission; and to signify the Lords Desire, that the House of Commons would be present to hear the said Commission read.

The Lords being all in their Robes; and the House of Commons being come, with their Speaker; the Commission was read, as followeth:

Octavo die Maii, Anno Regni Nostri Tertio Decimo, inchoari & teneri ordinavimus, a quo die idem Parliamentum Nostrum per separales Prorogationes, Adjournationes usque ad & in Vicesimum Quartum diem Februarii, ult. præterit. continuatum fuerat; eodemque Vicesimo Quarto die Februarii, idem Parliamentum Nostrum usque ad & in instantem Decimum diem Novembris, ulterius prorogatum fuerat, ibidem tunc tenendum & prosequendum: Sciatis tamen, quod, certis urgentibus Causis & Considerationibus Nos specialiter moventibus, idem Parliamentum Nostrum ulterius prorogandum duximus. De Fidelitate igitur, Prudentiâ, & Circumspectione vestris plurimùm confidentes, de Avisamento & Assensu Concilii Nostri, assignavimus vos Commissionarios Nostros, dantes vobis, & aliquibus Tribus vel pluribus vestrum, Tenore præsentium, plenam Potestatem & Auctoritatem, hoc instante die Martis, ad præsens Parliamentum Nostrum, Nomine Nostro, ad & in Decimum Tertium diem Aprilis jam proxime futuri, usque prædictam Civitatem Nostram Westm. prorogandum & continuandum, ibidemque tunc tenendum & prosequendum; et ideo vobis mandamus, quod circa præmissa diligenter intendatis, ac ea in Forma prædicta effectualiter expleatis. Damus autem universis & singulis Archiepiscopis, Ducibus, Marchionibus, Comitibus, Vicecomitibus, Episcopis, Baronibus, Militibus, Civibus, & Burgensibus, ac omnibus aliis quorum interest ad dictum Parliamentum Nostrum conventuris, Tenore præsentium, firmiter in Mandatis, quod vobis in præmissis faciend. agend. & exequend. pareant, obediant, & intendant, prout decet. In cujus Rei Testimonium, has Literas Nostras fieri fecimus Patentes.

Then the Lord Keeper said,

Parliament prorogued.

"By virtue of His Majesty's Commission now read, we do, in His Majesty's Name, prorogue the Parliament to the Thirteenth Day of April next; and this Parliament is prorogued to the Thirteenth Day of April next."
