This Day, before the Sitting of this House, these Lords whose Names are under written did, in the Presence of the Lord Keeper and a competent Number of the Lords of His Majesty's Privy Council, kneeling at the Woolsack whereon the Lord Keeper sits, take the Oath of Allegiance provided and mentioned in the Parliament A° 3° Regis Jacobi.

The Gentleman Usher held the Bible, and the Clerk of the Crown read the Oath.

PRAYERS.

King's Answer concerning the Fast.

The Lord Keeper reported, "That both Houses attended His Majesty Yesterday at Whitehall, and presented to Him the humble Petition for a Fast; and His Majesty received the same very graciously; and immediately went to Council, and gave Order for a Proclamation for a Fast, to be kept the Fourth Day of February next in this Town and Ten Miles about; and the Week after, throughout all the Kingdom."

Coddrington versus Prettyman, in Error.

Upon reading the Petition of Mary Codrington Widow, Defendant in a Writ of Error wherein William Prettyman Esquire is Plaintiff; shewing, "That the said Writ of Error hath been depending in this House ever since the 26th of March last, wherein no Errors are yet assigned by the said Plaintiff; and therefore prays that a short Day may be set, for the Plaintiff to assign his Errors, or that the said Writ of Error may be remitted:"

It is ORDERED thereupon, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said William Prettyman be, and is hereby, required to assign Errors on the said depending Writ, on or before Thursday the 22th of this Instant January, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Hallet versus Kendall.

Upon reading the Answer and Plea of Thomas Kendall Esquire and Mary his Wife, to the Petition and Appeal of Mary Hallet Widow, Relict of John Hallet deceased, and Johanna Hallet One of the Daughters and Coheirs of the said John Hallet, as also the Answer of the said Thomas Kendall to a Petition of the said Mary Hallet, presented to this House on the Ninth of January Instant:

It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear Counsel at the Bar, on both Parts, upon the said Petitions and Answers, on Thursday the 22th of this instant January, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the Petitioner is to cause timely Notice to be given to the said Thomas Kendall, to the End he may be ready at the Time aforesaid.

Trustees of E. Shrewsbury, L. Brudnell, Talbot, & al. versus D. of Bucks.

Upon reading the Petition of Francis Lord Brudenell and others, the nearest Relations to Charles now Earl of Shrewsbury; complaining against George Duke of Bucks and Anna Maria Countess of Shrewsbury, as also the Answer of the said Duke of Bucks (to the said Petition) appointed to be put in this Day:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Petitioners, or some of them, to make their Proofs of the Matters alledged in the said Petition, at the Bar of this House, on Wednesday the 21th Day of January Instant, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the Petitioners, or some of them, are to cause timely Notice to be given to the said Duke of Bucks; and they are hereby also required in like Manner to cause a Copy of the said Petition to be left at the latest Dwelling-house of the said Countess of Shrewsbury here in Town.

E. of Arlington desires Leave to vindicate himself in H. C.

Upon Occasion of the Earl of Arlington's moving the House this Day, "That he might have their Lordships Leave to go down to the House of Commons, to vindicate himself from some Aspersions laid on him there:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That it be referred to the Lords Committees for Privileges, to search the Journals of this House, what hath been formerly the Practice in such Cases, and report the same to this House.
