Commissioners for taking Accompts.

The Lord Keeper acquainted the House, "That he was informed by the Gentleman Usher, That some of the Commissioners appointed to take the Accompts of the several Monies mentioned in an Act of Parliament, were at the Door, to give an Account of what they have done."

Upon this, they were called in; and being come to the Bar, the Lord Brereton told their Lordships, "That he was commanded by the Commissioners for Accompts, most humbly to present to their Lordships a Report of the State of some Accompts as they at present stand before them; wherein they have met with some Difficulties, which, together with some particular Observations upon the said Accompts, and Management of His Majesty's Affairs, they have thought it their Duty in all Humility to present to His Majesty and both Houses of Parliament. Concerning their Proceedings, he had only in Charge to say, That they have endeavoured constantly to do their Duties, according to the Tenor of their Oath, and the great Trust reposed in them by His Majesty and both Houses of Parliament, and that Justice and Equity which is due to all Mankind; and if in any Thing they have failed, they do most humbly hope that it shall be found to have proceeded from the Errors of their Understanding, not of their Wills; and therefore, as all their Actions therein are liable to the Judgement of Parliament, so they shall with all Chearfulness submit to it."

The Lords received their Report; and ORDERED, That the same be read To-morrow Morning. And the Gentleman Usher was directed to let the Commissioners know, "That the House had no further Occasion at present of their Stay."

Bill to prevent Frauds in exporting Wools, &c.

The Earl of Bridgwater reported, "That the Committee for preventing Fraud in exporting of Wools, &c. have met, and find the Bill of such great Concernment, that they desire (according to the ancient Custom) that some of the Judges may be appointed to assist the Committee in this Business."

Hereupon the House ordered Mr. Justice Twisden, and Mr. Baron Turner, and His Majesty's Attorney General, to attend the Lords Committees in this Business on Saturday next, at Three of the Clock in the Afternoon, in the Prince's Lodgings, and at such other Times as the Committee shall meet afterwards.
