MEMORANDUM, quod hodierno die, (videlicet,) tertio die Octobris, Anno Regni Serenissimi Domini nostri Caroli Secundi, Dei Gratiâ, Angl. Scociæ, Franciæ, & Hib. Regis, Fidei Defensoris, &c. Septimo Decimo, in quem diem prorogat. fuerat hoc præsens Parliamentum, convenere Domini tam Spirituales quam Temporales, quorum nomina subscribuntur:

Archb. Cant. Speaker.

Memorandum, That the Archbishop of Cant. was appointed Speaker this Day, by virtue of a Commission under the Great Seal of England; which was read.

Then the Archbishop of Cant. took the Place of Speaker.

PRAYERS.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, that the Peers might robe themselves.

The House being resumed;

Message to H. C. to come and hear the Commission read.

The Yeoman Usher, by Command of the House, went to desire the House of Commons to come up, with their Speaker, to take Notice of the Prorogation of the Parliament, by virtue of His Majesty's Commission under the Great Seal of England.

The Commons being come, with their Speaker, the Clerk of the Parliament's Deputy presented His Majesty's Commission to the Lord Archbishop of Cant. who (being placed on a Form between the State and the Woolsack, with the Duke of Albemarle, the Earl of Craven, and the Lord Bishop of London) said,

"Mr. Speaker, and ye Gentlemen of the House of Commons,

"It is His Majesty's Pleasure, that this Parliament be prorogued to a further Time and to another Place, of which you shall know more when ye hear His Majesty's Commission read."

Then the said Commission was read, by the Clerk of the Parliament's Deputy (in his Absence), in these Words, (videlicet),

Commission for proroguing the Parliament.

Octavo die Maii, Anno Regni Nostri Tertio Decimo, inchoari & teneri ordinavimus, À quo die idem præsens Parliamentum Nostrum per separales Prorogationes usque ad & in primum diem Augusti ult. præterit. continuatum fuerat, eodemque die idem Parliamentum Nostrum usque ad & in instantem Tertium diem Octobris prorogatum fuerat, ibidem tunc tenendum & prosequendum: Sciatis tamen, quod, certis urgentibus Causis & Considerationibus Nos specialiter moventibus, idem Parliamentum Nostrum ulteriùs prorogandum duximus. De Fidelitate igitur, Prudentiâ, & Circumspectionibus, vestris plurimùm confidentes, de Avisamento & Assensu Concilii Nostri, assignavimus vos Commissionarios Nostros, dantes vobis, & aliquibus Tribus vel pluribus vestrum, Tenore præsentium, plenam Potestatem & Auctoritatem, hoc instante die Martis, ad præsens Parliamentum Nostrum, Nomine Nostro, ad & in Nonum diem instantis Octobris prædicti usque Civitatem Nostram Oxon. prorogandum & continuandum, ibidemque tunc tenendum & prosequendum. Et ideo vobis mandamus, quod circa præmissa diligenter intendatis, ac ea in Formâ prædictâ effectualiter expleatis. Damus autem universis & singulis Archiepiscopis, Ducibus, Marchionibus, Comitibus, Vicecomitibus, Episcopis, Baronibus, Militibus, Civibus, & Bur- gensibus, ac omnibus aliis quorum interest ad dictum Parliamentum Nostrum conventuris, Tenore præsentium, firmiter in Mandatis, quod vobis in præmissis faciend. agend. & exequend. pareant, obediant, & intendant, prout decet. In cujus Rei Testimonium, has Literas Nostras fieri fecimus Patentes.
