E. Cardigan, Privilege. Bond, Letts, and Worth, his Servants, arrested.

Upon Oath made at the Bar of this House, by Edward Freeman, "That Edward Bond, Edward Letts, and William Worth, menial Servants to the Earl of Cardigan, a Peer of this Realm, were in this Term arrested, contrary to the Privilege of Parliament, by John Palmer, a Bailiff to the High Sheriff of the County of Leycester, at the Suit of John Baker, albeit the said John Palmer and John Baker knew the said Edward Bond, Edward Letts, and William Worth, to be menial Servants to the said Earl of Cardigan:"

Palmer and Baker sent for.

It is therefore ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal assembled in Parliament, That the said Edward Bond, Edward Letts, and William Worth, be, and are hereby, discharged from the said Arrest, any Proceedings since thereupon had to the contrary notwithstanding; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant to the said High Sheriff on that Behalf: And it is further ORDERED, That the said John Palmer and John Baker be, and are hereby, required to appear at the Bar of this House on Saturday the 25th Day of this Instant February, to answer for their said Offence in making the said Arrest: And hereof they may not fail.

Streets and Highways Bill; and for regulating Hackney Coaches.

The Earl of Bridgwater reported, "That the Committee have considered of the Bill concerning mending the Highways and Streets about the Cities of London and Westm. and ordering of Hackney Coaches; and do think it fit to pass, with some Alterations, which are offered to their Lordships Consideration."

The said Amendments were read Twice, and Agreed to; and ordered the said Bill to be engrossed, with the said Amendments.

L. Vaughan, Privilege, against Powell & al. for forcibly carrying away the Tithe Corn from Llanwarry Brinn, &c.

Upon Oath made at the Bar of this House, by Maurice Williams and William Bevan, "That Rowland Gwyn, of Glanbran, in the County of Carmarthen, Gentleman, together with Roderick Gwyn, Samuell Prichard, Rowland Powell, Charles Morgan, Robert Willies, and Richard Awbrey, and divers others, armed, did, in the Beginning of December last, in a riotous Manner, enter into Two Barns, wherein Part of the Tithe Corn of the Rectory of Llanvarry Brinn and Llandingad, in the said County, belonging to the Lord Vaughan, a Peer of this Realm, was lodged, and, in forcible and riotous Manner, carried away the same to the House and Barns of the said Rowland Gwynn, contrary to the Privilege of Parliament:"

It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, or his Deputy, shall forthwith attach the Bodies of the said Rowland Gwynn, Roderick Gwynn, Samuell Pritchard, Rowland Powell, Charles Morgan, Robert Willies, and Richard Awbrey, and bring them in safe Custody to the Bar of this House: And this to be a sufficient Warrant in that Behalf.

Order for L. Vaughan's Corn to be restored to him.

Upon Oath made at the Bar of this House, by Maurice Williams and William Bevan, "That Rowland Gwynn, of Glanbran, in the County of Carmarthen, Gentleman, together with Roderick Gwynn, Samuell Pritchard, Rowland Powell, Charles Morgan, Robert Willies, and Richard Awbrey, with divers others, armed, did, in the Beginning of December last, in a riotous Manner, enter into Two Barns, wherein Part of the Tithe Corn of the Rectory of Llanvarry Brynn, and Llandingad, in the said County, belonging to the Lord Vaughan, a Peer of this Realm, was lodged, and, in forcible and riotous Manner, carried away the same to the House and Barns of the said Rowland Gwynne, contrary to the Privilege of Parliament:"

It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the High Sheriff of the County of Carmarthen be, and is hereby, required to cause speedy Restitution to be made, by the said Rowland Gwynn, to the Lord Vaughan, or his Agents or Servants, of the Corn carried away as aforesaid, whereof this House will expect a strict Account; this being his sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.

Bp. Chichester, Privilege, against Chadwell, for scandalous Words.

Upon Oath made at the Bar of this House, by Mr. George Sambich and James Swann, "That Thomas Chadwell hath spoken very scandalous Words against the Lord Bishop of Chichester, a Member of this House, on or about the 26th Day of December last, and hearing the said Thomas Chadwell this Day at the Bar, what he could say in his own Defence:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, or his Deputy (in whose Custody the said Thomas Chadwell now is), shall convey him in Safety to The Gatehouse Prison at Westm.: and deliver him the said Thomas Chadwell into the Custody of the Keeper of the said Prison: And, this shall be a sufficient Warrant in that Behalf.

Chadwell committed to The Gatehouse.

Upon hearing Thomas Chadwell this Day at the Bar, what he could say to the very scandalous and opprobrious Words proved by the Oath of Two Witnesses to be spoken by him, on, or about the 26th Day of December last, against the Lord Bishop of Chichester, a Member of this House:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Keeper of The Gatehouse Prison at Westm. shall receive from the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, or his De- puty, the Body of the said Thomas Chadwell, and keep him in safe Custody, until the Pleasure of this House be further signified: And this to be a sufficient Warrant in that Behalf.

E. of Thannett's Bill.

The Earl of Bridgwater reported, "That the Committee have considered the Bill for confirming the Deed of Settlement betwixt the Earl of Thannett and his younger Brethren; and their Lordships think it fit to pass, with some Amendments."

Which, being read Twice, were Agreed to; and the said Bill is ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendments.

Micklethwait's Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act to confirm an Act to enable Joseph Micklethwaite an Infant, and his Trustees, to sell Lands, for Payment of his Father's Debts."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of this Bill is committed to these Lords following:

Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet in the Prince's Lodgings, at Three of the Clock this Afternoon; and to adjourn themselves as they please.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by John Ashburnham Esquire and others; who brought up several Bills passed by the House of Commons, wherein they desire their Lordships Concurrence:
