Standing Orders.
ORDERED, That the Standing Orders of this House shall be read on Monday Morning next, the First Business.
Aldus, Viscount Hereford's Chaplain, Privilege; reinstated in Possession of St. Peter's Church in Ipswich.
Whereas, upon the Complaint of the Lord Viscount Hereford, "That Samuell Aldus Clerk, domestic Chaplain to his Lordship, was, during the Sitting of this Parliament, put out of Possession of the Church of St. Peter's in Ipswich, being his Lordship's Donative, contrary to the Privilege of Parliament, by Andrew Sorrell, William Harrison, Peter Cole, Joseph Hubbard, John Dyer, Thomas Goodwin, and Edward Bartle, who were on the Tenth Day of May last ordered to put the said Samuell Aldus into such Possession as he had before he was by them put out; and that they should appear before the Lords in Parliament this Day, to answer their said Offence:"
Sorrell, Harrison, & al. discharged.
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, at the special Instance and Motion of the Lord Viscount Hereford on their Behalf, That the said Andrew Sorrell, William Harrison, Peter Cole, John Dyer, Thomas Goodwin, and Edward Bartle (who have this Day received the Reprehension of the House for their said Offences), be, and are hereby, discharged from any further Attendance on the House of Peers for or concerning the same.
Hubbard to be attached, for Contempt.
Upon Information given to this House, upon Oath made at this Bar, by Bassingbourn Gaudy, "That Joseph Hubbard, of Ipswich, in the County of Suffolke, refused to give Obedience to an Order of this House, made the Tenth Day of May last, for putting Samuell Aldus Clerk, domestic Chaplain to the Lord Viscount Hereford, into such Possession of the Church of St. Peter's in Ipswich (being his Lordship's Donative) as the said Chaplain was put out of by the said Andrew Sorrell and others during the Sitting of the Parliament, contrary to the Privilege of Parliament, but slighted the said Order:"
It is therefore ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, or his Deputy, shall forthwith attach the Body of the said Joseph Hubbard, for his said Offence, and keep him in safe Custody until the Pleasure of this House be further signified: And this to be a sufficient Warrant in that Behalf.
