PRAYERS.

Order for regulating Protections.

The House took into Consideration the Business of regulating of Protections.

And the Lord Privy Seal, the Lord Great Chamberlain, the Earl of Bollingbrooke, and the Lord Lucas, were appointed presently to withdraw, and to word an Order according to the Sense of the House; which being reported, was read.

And, after a Debate thereof, the Question being put, "Whether to agree to this Paper now read, with the Amendment?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

The Order follows; videlicet,

"The Lords Spiritual and Temporal in the High Court of Parliament assembled do hereby require every Member of this House, not to grant any Protection or Protections (during this present Session of Parliament) to any Person or Persons that are not, or shall not be, their Lordships menial Servants, or Persons necessarily and properly employed about their Estates; and in case any such be granted by any Member of this House, that he do presently revoke the same; of all which this House will expect a strict Account: And that all Persons that have presumed, or shall presume, to counterfeit the Protection of any Peer of this Realm, shall be severely punished."

Order about the Lords free Benevolence to the King.

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That such Lords as have subscribed Money for their free Benevolence to His Majesty, and have not paid the same, shall have Time to give Satisfaction to His Majesty between this and the Five and Twentieth Day of March next; and in case any Lord shall fail therein, then this House will take into Consideration how to preserve the said Debts to His Majesty, that they be not lost.

Bishops to be heard, by Counsel, about their Peerage.

ORDERED, That this Day Month, videlicet, the Twentieth of March, is appointed to hear the Counsel of the Lords the Bishops, at this Bar, concerning their Claim of being Peers of Parliament; and the Order Yesterday vacated.

E. of Salisbury's Privilege, in Kaile's Suit against him.

Upon Information given this Day to the House, That one William Kaile brought an Action of Trespass and Ejectment in the King's Bench, as of Michaelmas Term last, against Robert Alner, for Whitdeame Farme, in Rushton, in the County of Dorsett, and delivered the Declaration for the same, who is the Tenant to the Earl of Salisbury, a Member of Parliament and Peer of this Realm, who hath the Inheritance of the Premises, and is immediately concerned therein, which Trial is to be had the next Assizes for the said County of Dorsett:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That there be a Stop of the Proceedings in the said Cause during the Privilege of this Parliament; and that all Counsel, Attornies, and Solicitors, are to take Notice of this Order, and yield their Obedience accordingly.

Adjourn.
