Bengworth Bridge Bill.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act concerning the Repairing of Bengworth Bridge, in the County of Worcester."

The Question being put, "Whether this Bill, with the Amendments, shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Bill for Money for Officers who served the King in the late Troubles:

The Earl of Bollingbrooke reported from the Committee, the Bill for distributing of Threescore Thousand Pounds amongst the indigent and loyal Commissionated Officers, with certain Alterations and Amendments, which are offered to the Consideration of the House.

The said Amendments were read Twice.

And then a Proviso was offered to the House, for reserving the King's Right touching the disposing of the said Threescore Thousand Pounds; which was read.

And, after a long Debate, the Question being put, Whether this Proviso, that hath been offered, shall be added to the Bill?"

It was Resolved in the Negative.

Protest against rejecting a Proviso to it.

Memorandum, That the Earl of Bollingbrooke desired Leave of the House to enter his Dissent, if the aforesaid Question was carried in the Negative; and entered his Dissent as followeth:

On these Reasons, that I conceive the sole and supreme Power of disposing of Monies is in the King, and that no Aid ought to be disposed but by His sole Warrant and Commission, and consequently that no Person or Persons may any Ways join therein without prejudicing His Majesty's Prerogative; and hereon only I desired the admitting the Proviso.

"Bolingbrooke."

The Question being put, "Whether these Words ["by certain Men sitting at Westm."] shall be changed into these Words ["by some of the Men sitting at Westm."]?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

ORDERED, That all that have Offices shall be included in this Bill; and the Exception for the King's menial Servants to be left out; and that there be a Proviso added, "That such Peers as have Offices annexed to their Dignities shall be assessed only by Peers;" which Alterations are to be put into their due Places as they are to stand in the Bill, by the Committee; who are to report the same To-morrow Morning, and then this House will proceed to give a final Dispatch to this Bill.

Committees adjourned.

ORDERED, That all such Committees as are appointed to fit this Afternoon are adjourned, to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon.

Lady Roos, concerning the Bill for illegitimating her Child.

ORDERED, That the Cause of the Lady Ross, which is appointed to be heard at this Bar To-morrow Morning, is put off, to be heard on Wednesday Morning next; at which Time the Parties, with their Counsel and Witnesses, are to attend the said Hearing.

Vavasor, Mawe, and others, Delinquents, about HatfeildLevel.

Whereas Thomas Vavasor, Edmond Mawe, and others, now in the Custody of the Serjeant at Arms, were brought this Day to the Bar, as Delinquents, upon a Complaint against them, for the Breach of an Order of this House, concerning the Level of Hatfeild Chase:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Business concerning the said Persons, and those others that brought the said Complaint against them, is to be heard, at this Bar, on this Day Sevennight, which will be the Twelfth of this Instant May; and hereof all Persons concerned are to take Notice, and attend, with their Counsel and Witnesses, accordingly.
