Bill to vest in the King, all Monies remaining of the Collections during the late Troubles.
Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for the declaring, vesting, and settling, of all such Monies, Goods, and other Things, in His Majesty, which were received, levied, or collected, in the late Times, and are remaining in the Hands or Possession of any Treasurer, Receivers, Collectors, or others, not pardoned by the Act of Oblivion."
ORDERED, That the Consideration of this Bill is referred to these Lords following:
Their Lordships, or any Five; to meet To-morrow Morning, at Eight a Clock, in the Prince's Lodgings.
Bill to provide Carriages for the King.
Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for providing necessary Carriages for His Majesty, in His Royal Progress and Removals."
ORDERED, That this Bill is committed to the same Committee as the abovesaid Bill is.
Message from H. C. concerning the Bill for regulating Corporations.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Coventrey and others:
To put their Lordships in Mind of a Bill formerly sent up, concerning Corporations, which they desire might have its Passage before the Adjournment.
The Answer returned was:
Answer.
That this House hath many Bills undispatched, which were brought up from the House of Commons; and concerning this Bill now mentioned, their Lordships will take it into Consideration in convenient Time, according to the Course of Parliament.
E. of Derby and his Purchasers.
ORDERED, by the Lords in Parliament assembled, That the Report of the Earl of Derbye's Bill is put off until the next Meeting of this Parliament after the Adjournment; and that such of the Purchasers as have been put out of Possession of any Lands bought of the said Earl by colour of any Order of this House shall be forthwith restored to their Possessions.
Report concerning Penal Laws against Priests, &c.
Next, the House proceeded to finish the Report concerning Penal Laws against Romain Catholics; and appointed a Committee to consider of and prepare a Bill to be offered to this House, upon these particular Heads following:
"Their Lordships are to peruse the whole Statute of 5° Eliz. Cap. 1. and to consider what Part thereof is fit to be repealed.
"The Clauses in the Stat. of 27° Eliz. Cap. 2. concerning receiving of Jesuits and Seminary Priests, to be repealed.
"The Clauses in the 35th of Eliz. Cap. 1. concerning Nonconformists, to be repealed.
"The Clause in the Stat. of 1° Jacobi, Cap. 4to, concerning putting former Laws against Recusants, Priests, and Jesuits, into Execution, to be repealed.
"The Clauses in 3° Jac. Cap. 4to, concerning going out of the Realm, and not taking the Oath of Allegiance, and giving Bond, and for those that seduce others, to be repealed.
"The Writ De Hæretico comburendo, to be repealed.
"In the Preamble of the Bill, to set forth the Reasons and Grounds of these Alterations; and also to consider of fit and proper Remedies to preserve the Protestant Religion from those Inconveniencies, which the repealing these Laws may otherwise produce: But this Indulgence not to be extended to Jesuits."
The Names of the Lords Committees are:
