Order for an Allowance for Ministers at Chichester.

The Order for Allowance to the Ministers at Chichester, was read the Second Time, and committed to the Consideration of these Lords following:

Any Three; to meet To-morrow Morning, at 9 Clock, in the Lord Keeper's Lodgings.

Toll's Ordinance to be Comptroller at Lynn.

Next, the Ordinance for making Thomas Toll Comptroller of the Customs at Lynn, was read the Second Time, and passed; and ordered to be sent to the House of Commons for their Concurrence.

Bastwick's Ordinance.

Upon reading the Petition of Doctor Bastwicke:

It is Ordered, That it be sent to the House of Commons; with special Commendations, that they would take into Consideration his Ordinance formerly sent down.

Gray, a Pass.

Ordered, That Mr. Tho. Graye shall have a Pass, to go into Northumb. or into any other Part of the Kingdom, with his Servants and Horses.

Kirke and Bishop.

Ordered, That the Errors between Kirke and Bishop shall be argued, by Counsel on both Sides, on Tuesday next; in the mean Time, the Defendant Bishop to join Issue.

Whitaker, for pirating L. Herbert's Works.

Whereas the Cause between Mr. Herbert and Whitaker, concerning the Printing of the History of H. VIII. should have been heard this Day:

It is Ordered, That the same shall be heard on Wednesday next, by Counsel on both Sides.

Letter from the L. Admiral, about the State of the Navy.

The Earl of Mulgrave reported from the Committee at Derby House, a Letter from the Lord Admiral, concerning the State of the Navy at Sea with him; which was read. (Here enter them.)

Answer to it.

Next, an Answer prepared formerly by the Committee at Derby House, to be sent to the Lord Admiral, was read; but could not be sent, for Want of a Vessel to send it.

Message to the H. C. with them; and to remind them of Baron Atkin's Ordinance.

It is Ordered, That these Letters be sent to the House of Commons.

And accordingly they were presently sent, by Doctor Bennett and Mr. Hakewill; and to put them in Mind of the Ordinance sent down, for making Mr. Baron Atkins One of the Judges of the Common Pleas.

Col. Carleton's Protection continued.

Upon reading the Petition of Lieutenant Colonel Sam. Carlton:

It is Ordered, That the former Protection of this House, dated the 29th of April, 1645, is hereby continued to him.

Message from the H. C. with Papers concerning the Treaty; and with Ordinances and Orders.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Swinfen, &c.; who brought up divers Particulars, wherein they desire Concurrence:

1. To communicate to their Lordships some Papers received from the Commissioners in the Isle of Wight.

2. Votes upon the King's Answer concerning the Church.

Ordered, To be taken into Consideration Tomorrow Morning.

3. A Letter to the Commissioners.

4. An Order for Twenty Pounds to Taylor, out of Goldsmithes Hall.

5. An Ordinance for Five Thousand Pounds for the Guards of Horse attending the Houses.

6. An Order for Payment of Fees to Officers and Under Clerks, for Commissions and Dedimus Potestatems to Justices of Peace, out of the Hanaper.

7. An Order for One Hundred Pounds for Mr. Allen.

8. An Ordinance for charging the Sum of Fifty Thousand Pounds upon the Receipts at Goldsmithes Hall, in Course, for carrying on the Affairs of the Navy.

9. An Order for Two Hundred Pounds to Sir Henry Cholmeley, to buy him Horses.

The Answer returned was:

That this House will take the Particulars of this Message into Consideration, and will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.
