An Ordinance was presented to this House, for confirming such Persons as the Committee for the regulating of the University of Oxford have preferred to Places in that University; which was read, and passed, and ordered to be sent to the House of Commons for their Concurrence.
Doctor Row's Petition, about his Sequestration.
Upon reading the Petition of Doctor Cheny Row; desiring, "to be heard by the Committee of Lords and Commons for Sequestrations, concerning his Delinquency:"
It is Ordered, To be sent down to the House of Commons, for their Concurrence, that it may be referred to that Committee, to examine and hear his Business.
Cook, Earl of Mulgrave's Solicitor, arrested.
Upon Affidavit read, "That Mr. Cooke, Solicitor to the Earl of Mulgrave, is arrested, and imprisoned in the Marshal's Court, contrary to the Privilege of Parliament, by Cornelius Avery and John Avery, at the Suit of Mr. John Warren:"
Avery to be attached.
It is Ordered, That the said Mr. Cooke be forthwith released, and set at Liberty; and the said Cornelius Avery and John Avery be attached, and brought before the Lords in Parliament, to answer their said Offence.
Captain Batten's Petition, for Relief to be sent to The Holy Island.
A Letter from Captain Robert Batten, Governor of The Holy Island, was read; desiring, "Provisions and Ships may be sent, for the Safety of that Island:"
It is Ordered, To be referred to the Committee of Lords and Commons at Derby House.
Marquis of Winton to have Liberty on Bail.
Upon reading a Certificate of the Physicians of the Marquis of Winton, declaring the ill Health of his Lordship, for Want of Liberty:
It is Ordered, To send this Certificate to the House of Commons; and desire their Concurrence, that his Lordship may have Liberty for Four Months, for his Health Sake, upon the same Security as formerly he gave.
Vernon versus Cudworth.
Upon reading the Petition of Henry Vernon, against Rob't Cudworth:
It is Ordered, That the said Cudworth shall have a Copy of this Petition, and return his Answer (fn. 1) within a Week after Notice.
Ordinance to confirm the Oxford Articles.
Ordered, That the Committee for the Ordinance for confirming the Articles of Oxford shall meet on Monday Morning next.
E. of Denbigh, Leave to go to Bath.
Ordered, That the Earl of Denbigh shall have Leave to go to The Bath, for his Health.
Sir E. Leech excused.
Ordered, That Sir Edward is excused for his Attendance on this House, until the next Term.
Instructions for the Judges.
Ordered, That the same Committee as was appointed formerly to draw up Instructions to be given to the Judges the last Circuit, shall consider of the Instructions to be given now this next Circuit; and to report the same on Tuesday next.
