Hodie ipsi de Domo Communi in Camera Parliamenti, coram Domino Rege, comparentes, presentaverunt eidem Domino Regi Ricardum Riche, Armigerum jam suum Pro locutorum electum; qui quidem Ricardus, ibidem tunc, eorum Nomine, Orationem habuit, cujus prima in parte prefato Domino Regi declaravit eos sue Sublimitatis Voluntatem, et presentis hujus Parliamenti summonitionis Causas, per Orationem Honorabilis Viri Thome Awdeley, Militis, Regis Cancellarii, die Jovis, primo die presentis hujus Parliamenti, habitam, probe intellexisse; cujus Orationis summam ibidem tunc prefatus Prolocutor recitavit; deinde Regie Majestatis laudem enarrare exorsus est, eandem summis et meritis quidem laudibus extollens, dotesque Gratie et Nature prefati Domini Regis commemorans; quem ob Prudentiam et Justitiam, Salamoni; ob Corporis Robur et Fortitudinem, Sampsoni; et, ob Formam et Pulchritudinem, Absaloni digne et merito comparuit: Postremo declaravit, quatenus prefatus Dominus Cancellarius eis, Nomine Regio, dedit in Mandatis, ut in Domo sua Communi et consueta convenirent, et unum Prolocutorem suum eligerent, et sic electum prefato Domino Regi presentarent; "cujus Mandato obedientes, in Domum (inquit) Communem nos contulimus; ibidemque me, omnium eo honori indignissimum, suum Prolocutorem elegerent;" et ideo Regiam Sublimitatem humillime supplicavit, ut iterum eis in Mandatis daret, ut in Domum Communem se reciperent, et alium Prolocutorem eligerent; se enim neque Doctrinam neque Experientiam, imo nec Audaciam habere, et ideo ad tantum Honorem subeundum minus idoneum; cui Dominus Cancellarius, ex Mandato Regio, responsum dedit, Regiam Sublimitatem probe ejus Orationem audiisse, et per primam ejus partem intellexisse ipsos de Domo Communi Orationi ipsius Domini Cancellarii probe attentos fuisse, ut per eandem eorum Orationem patet; deinde ejus Majestatem Laudes et Virtutes eadem in Oratione sibi ascriptas audivisse, verum in se sua Sublimitas tales agnoscere negat; que tamen si sint, illas a Deo Optimo Maximo acceptas refert Postremo, "Excusationes tuas (inquit) Ricarde, audivit; ubi te neque Doctrinam neque Experientiam, nec etiam Audaciam habere, et ideo ad tantum Honorem subeundum minus idoneum consiteris; ad quod Regia Majestas me, ejus nomine, respondere jussit, quod si in te Doctrinam, Experientiam, et Audaciam, non agnovisset, te sibi in Sollicitatorem, tantis et tam urgentibus in Negotiis, non ascivisset; et ideo excusationes tuas hac in parte non admittit." Postea prefatus Ricardus, videns excusationes suas ex parte Domini Regis non admitti, eandem humillime supplicavit, ut quovis tempore, durante presente hoc Parliamento, ad suam Sublimitatem sibi sociisque suis pateat introitus; utque omnia et singula per ipsum in presenti Parliamento proferenda et declaranda, sub tali possit protestatione proferre et declarare; quod si ipse aliqua sibi per prefatos socios suos injuncta aliter quam ipsi concordati fuerint, aut in addendo vel omittendo declaravit, ea sic declarata per predictos socios suos corrigere et emendare possit; cui per Dominum Cancellarium, ex Mandato Regio, extitit responsum, quod idem Prolocutor eadem protestatione sua, cum omnibus suis petitionibus, frueretur et gauderet.
