Memoranda: 200 communicants. The rector receives £20 p.a. and pays a curate £6 13s 4d p.a.

131. Hampton [on Thames]

Church maintenance and poor relief: the church house and 2½ acres of copyhold land held of the honour of Hampton Court, now t. Thomas Younge, Richard Balden and Roger Belson, 16s p.a.

Lamp: a cow price 12s was bequeathed by John Newman.

Memoranda: 230 communicants. Robert Newman, vicar, receives £10 p.a. and serves the cure himself.

132. Stanwell (fn. 13)

Lamp: 10 acres of land on the East side of the parish church, given for ever and long used for this purpose, t. Philip Hewlet, 10s p.a.

Chapel: (fn. 14) King Edward III gave land 10 perches long and 2½ perches broad on the common highway to found a chapel with a churchyard for the maintenance of divine service with sacraments and sacramentals. [Value blank].

Obit and poor relief: 10s p.a. distributed by George Kempe every Good Friday: 6s 8d bread to the poor; 5d to the poorest of the parish; 1s 1d to the poorest householders; 1s 10d for an obit; total 10s: under the terms of his mother Margaret Kempe's will, in return for 11 beasts she bequeathed him.

142. Pinner

Obit: a tenement in Harrow, given by William Streate, now t. John Wokes of Aldenham, 12s p.a. Of which, 1s 4d quitrent to John Clercke. Clear remainder 10s 8d p.a.

Morrow mass priest and 5d poor relief in honour of the Five Wounds: 3 tenements in the parish, leased by Thomas Newburghe to William Beckingham by indenture 5 November 1488 for 80 years. Beckingham bequeathed the tenements to his wife Alice for life, and after her death to the parish church, £4 p.a. Of which, 3s 4d quitrent to the king; £1 16s 8d to Newburghe's heirs; 5d to the poor; £1 19s 7d to the morrow mass priest; (fn. 22) total deductions £4. Clear remainder Nil.

Morrow mass priest: 2 tenements built by Roger Bowle, a former priest of the church, on a void piece of ground adjoining the churchyard, given by King Henry VI to maintain a lamp in return for 2s p.a. for all suits. The tenements are now let for £4 13s 4d p.a. The church has a further 2 tenements of the yearly rent of £1 6s 8d, also given to the morrow mass priest. Of which, 2s quitrent to the king; 4s each to 9 poor people (total £1 16s); total deductions £1 18s p.a. Clear remainder £4 2s p.a.

Parish rooms: a room in the churchyard, built at the parishioners' expense, with under-rooms, let to the poor rent-free, 'where the parishioners do assemble'.

No lands are given for any 'priest, obit, lamp or any such like thing'.

Almshouse: where poor and sick people are maintained by the inhabitants of the town who pay yearly 'to the lord thereof' 4d. (fn. 23)

Memoranda: 100 communicants. The king is rector and patron. Sir John Pateson, vicar, receives £18 6s 8d p.a. and serves the cure himself.

155. St Mary Matfelon

Obit for the soul of John Ball and others: 10s p.a. rent from tenements in the parish bequeathed to the church, t. Martin Cowley and his wife.

Obit: 6s 8d p.a. is spent by Thomas Casse, 'but out of what lands it is not certified'.

Prayers: lands and tenements given by the abbot and convent of St Osyth's for a term of years still to run, 'to be prayed for by the curate or parson', £6 2s 8d p.a. Of which, 13s 4d rent to one [blank] Glasto 'for that he hath purchased the same lands as it is said'. Clear remainder £5 9s 4d p.a.
