519. WILLIAM DE BOVILL, KNIGHT.
Writ of certiorari on the complaint of William le Noreys, showing that the said William de Bovill granted to him for life the keepership of his park of Badingham, and of his warrens there and at Dynyeton, Burndish and Tatington, and to receive yearly for his wages 12d. per week, and a robe or 1 mark, with power to distrain in the manor of Badingham; and he received the same until the manor came to the king’s hand by reason of the minority of Margaret, daughter of John de Bovill and heir of the said William, and the king granted the wardship of the said manor to Richard de Wyngfeld [alias de Wynkefeld], 3 May, 17 Edward II.

Badingham. The said William by his charter in 2 Edward II, granted the keepership, wages and robe abovesaid to the said William le Noreys for life, who was peacefully seised thereof until the manor was taken into the king’s hand as abovesaid, and the wardship was delivered to the said Richard, who has detained the said wages &c. for a year and a month without any cause. William de Boville held the manor of Margaret, then countess of Cornwall, as of the honour of Eye, and could charge the same at his will.

520. ROBERT DE TYSTEDE.
Writ of plenius certiorari to Ralph de Bereford and James de Norton, on the complaint of Femmota, late the wife of the said Robert, that whereas he held the manor of Tystede of John de Sancto Johanne by service of 2d. yearly for all service, whereby the wardship of the manor and heir ought to pertain to her as next (friend) of the heir, the king’s keepers of the bishopric of Winchester had taken the same into the king’s hand, asserting that it was held of the bishopric by knight’s service, 10 March, 17 Edward II.

Tystede. The said Robert held the manor of John de Sancto Johanne by service of 2d. yearly and scutage, without heriot, relief, wardship and marriage, and the said John held the manor of the said bishopric by knight’s service.

Indenture of partition of lands &c., knights’ fees, and advowsons of churches, which were of the said Richard and Joan, deceased, made in the king’s chancery with the consent of Walter de Pateshill and Joan his wife, elder daughter and heir of the said Richard and Joan, and Thomas de Ponyngg’ and Agnes his wife, younger daughter and heir of the same: pourparty assigned to the said Thomas and Agnes, 20 July, 17 Edward II, and enrolled in the Roll of Fines (defaced).
KENT. Terlingham manor. The hall, chapel, lands &c. (extent given with field names and names of tenants) including a moiety of the wood of Reyndon, 14l. 13s. 11 3/4d. rents, saving a moiety of the rents in Schaddred, and rents in Alkham.
Hastingleye. The advowson of the church, with the glebe &c.
Westwode. The manor, with the advowson of the free chapel there.
Canterbury City. A messuage &c.
Codham and Chelsham. 40s. rent receivable from Walter de Huntingfeld from a tenement called Jorieslond.
Cherringg. 24s. rent receivable from William de Newent near Cherringg.
The (sums due for the) guard of the castle of Dover and for Romescot of the church of Folkstan, are to be equally paid by both parties; and the profits of the half hundred of Folkstan, wrecks, and anything herein omitted, and any reversions which may happen, are to be equally divided; and it was agreed that certain lands &c., which after the death of the said Richard, who predeceased the said Joan, were delivered to the said heirs, should be resumed into the king’s hand, and (with) the other lands now in the king’s hand by the death of the said Joan, be delivered to the heirs according to the tenor of these pourparties.

522. WALTER HAKET.
Writ of plenius certiorari on the complaint of Laurence de Lodelawe that the escheator had taken the manor of Whethull, which the said Walter held of him in chief, into the king’s hand, and removed Walter son and heir of the said Walter, whose homage and fealty the said Laurence had taken, and had delivered to him the manor. 6 February, 17 Edward II.
SALOP. Inq. 16 ——— 17 Edward II.
Whethull. The said Walter held the manor of Laurence de Lodelowe by service of a knight’s fee, and not of the king or anyone else.
After the death of the said Walter the said Laurence took homage and service from Walter his son and heir then of full age, and delivered the manor to him.

Muscotes. A toft and 3 bovates of land, held of James de Bulforth (?) by service of a pair of gilt spurs; and 2 bovates of land held of the same by service of a pair of gloves.
All the above were sometime in the seisin of Isabel daughter and heir of John de Stayngrave (who married) Walter de Taye by command of King Edward I; which Walter and Isabel granted all the aforesaid (to the said king?) to hold to him and his heirs by fine levied in the king’s court, and the said king granted the same to the said Walter and Isabel, and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to the heirs of the said Isabel. And they died without heirs of their bodies. John de Pateshill is son and next heir of the said Isabel, and all the above ought to remain to him.
Margaret, daughter of Roger de Taye brother of the said Walter, aged 26, is his next heir.
