BUCKINGHAM. Proof of age, Friday after St. Peter ad Vincula, 6 Edw. II. (defective and defaced.)
Richard Minne, aged 60, says that the said Lucy was born at Buckingham on Whitsunday, 21 Edw. I, and baptized in the church of St. Peter there, and therefore completed the age of 15 at the feast of Holy Trinity last; and this he knows well because Beatrice [her] mother died about the feast of Holy Trinity fourteen years ago, and then she was in the wardship of Giles de Brewosa, and was aged 1 year and more, and this he saw.
Durand le Baker, aged 60 and more, and Robert le Baillif of Buckingham, aged 40 and more, say the same.
Walter de Sancto Andrea, aged 50 and more, says that the said Lucy has completed the age of 15 and more, for her mother died at Buckingham about the feast of Holy Trinity, 26 Edw. I, and then she was aged 1 year and more.
Walter de Cranford, aged 60 and more, says the same.
Richard Tours alias de Thours, aged 50 and more, says the same, and knows it because John de Kynbelle, steward of the said Beatrice, died eight days after the said Beatrice, in 26 Edw. I, when the said Lucy was aged 1 year and more.
Walter ate Watere, aged 40 and more, John de Cranford, aged 60, and Walter Frankeleyn, aged 50, say the same as Walter de Sancto Andrea.
John le Carpenter, aged 40 and more, Richard Cok (?), aged … and more, and Robert Tony, aged 60, say they have often heard that the said Lucy was 15 and more on the feast of Holy Trinity last.

420. THOMAS SON AND HEIR OF THOMAS DE MORILEY.
CUMBERLAND. Proof of age, made at Carlisle on Thursday the feast of St. Peter in Cathedra, 6 Edw. II.
Thomas de Redemane says the said Thomas was 21 on the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist last, which he knows because in 33 Edw. I the said Thomas son of Thomas, brought the king’s writ to the sheriff of Cumberland to enquire whether Thomas the father died in the king’s peace or not, because it was said that he died in association with the Scots, when it was found by an inquisition which is on the files in the chancery, that the said Thomas died in the king’s fealty, and that Thomas the younger was his son and next heir, and aged 13; at which inquisition he was present, and it seems to him by the appearance of his body that the said Thomas is of full age and more: he was born at Moriley within the liberty of Tyndale, co. Northumberland.
Walter de Plumland and others say the same, and some of them were present at the said inquisition.

Writ (missing).
LINCOLN. Proof of age, 27 July, 6 Edw. II. (defective and defaced.)
John son of Albert de Sudbrok, aged 50, says that the said Peter was born at Saxilby on the eve of St. Laurence, 18 Edw. I, and baptized in the church there, and Peter de Campania his grandfather lifted him from the sacred font, and this he knows because at Christmas Day next before the said birth he married his wife Florence, and from that day to Christmas day last twenty-two years have elapsed.
…… son of Bate de Refham, aged 42, says the same, and knows it because Robert …………., whose heir he is, died at the feast of St. Margaret before the said feast of St, Laurence, by which he was in the wardship of Sir H. de Lacy, earl of Lincoln, lately deceased, from the said [feast of St. M] argaret until the feast of All Saints next following, when the earl rendered him his inheritance as of full age.

Benedict de Refham, aged 55, says the same, and knows it by the death of Hugh his son, who died on the eve of the said day of St. Laurence, and was buried on that day, at whose burial his dearest friend Geoffrey de Foulestowe of Saxilby announced to him the birth of the said Peter.
Lambert ad Ripam of Netelham, aged 55, says the same, and knows it because the men of the township of Netelham built a chapel in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the year of the said Peter’s birth, and he with others went on the said day of St. Laurence to Saxilby to buy timber for the said chapel, and the men of Saxilby announced the birth of the said Peter to him.

Robert le Clerk of Wyvelyngham, aged 75, says the same, and knows it because he had a wife Marjory who was required to be present at the churching of Mary the mother of the said Peter, before which she became ill so that she could not be present, and died at the feast of St. Michael following.
John son of Roger le Clerk of Wyvelyngham, aged 42, agrees, and knows it because his father, whose heir he is, died at the feast of St. Laurence, 19 Edw. I, and the said Peter was born on the same feast next preceding.
Nicholas de Newerk of Mardon, aged 70, agrees, and knows it because in that year he was bailiff of the earl of Lincoln of the liberty of Welt (?) wapentake, and Peter de Campania, grandfather of the said Peter, was the king’s justice and ordered him to attach Alan Brand (?) and Simon de Mardon (?) of Torkesey, indicted before him for arson done at the fair of Boston.
Simon le Clerk of Streton, aged 60, agrees, and knows it because he has a son Hugh, born within the octave of St. Laurence, 18 Edw. I, who will be 22 within the said octave next.
William de Tytchewell, though warned, came not nor propounded anything why the said Peter’s pourparty should not be rendered to him.
