Houeden. 34s. rent of assize similarly held of the prior of Fynkal by fealty and service of 20s. yearly.
Birsay. A messuage, 20a. meadow, and 40s. rent of assize, similarly held of John de Hothom by fealty only.

In the life of the heir’s father, Sir Jordan de Metham took the heir to the manor of Belasise, and after the said John’s death by the command of Lady Sibyl late his wife, Thomas Verjon and John de Waghen eloigned him beyond the Humber, and after three weeks the said John de Waghen brought him back to the said Thomas, who delivered him to Sir William le Conestable who still detains him.

Tettebury. The manor (extent given), held of William de Brewose by service of 1 knight’s fee.
The said Peter assigned the said manor to Agnes his wife at the church door, for the manors of Manyngford, co. Wilts, and Cheresworth and Seggewyke, co. Sussex, which Mary de Brewose holds for life. William de Brewosa, who gave the manor to the said Peter to hold to him and the heirs of his body, held it of the king in chief as parcel of his barony of Brembre.
Thomas his son, aged 10 at the Nativity of the Blessed Mary last, is his next heir.

Manyngeford Brewose. The manor is held of the earl of Hereford, pertaining to the constableship of England. Mary de Brewosa has it by the grant of Sir Peter de Brewosa as her dower in Tettebury and Manyngeford, by the death of Sir William de Brewosa sometime her husband. Sir Peter was seised of two parts of the manor on the day he married his wife Agnes.

Cheresworthe and Seggewyk. The manors are held of the barony of Brembre, except a tenth part of Seggewyk, which is held of the abbot of Fescaump. The said Peter was not seised of these manors on the day he married his wife Agnes, nor after, but the said Mary holds them in dower by the assignment of William de Brewosa.

325. ALAN DE PENNINGTON, THE ELDER.
Writ, 4 Dec. 5, Edw. II.
[CUMBERLAND.] Inq. Saturday the morrow of St. Matthias, 5 Edw. II.
Carlisle. Two burgages held by the said Alan and Joan his wife of the late King Edward by service of 3d. yearly for ‘husgable.’ The said Alan died twenty years ago as the jury believe, and the said Joan held the said burgages as her own inheritance until the day of St. Luke, 3 Edw. II, when she died, after whose death Margery de Penyngton her daughter and heir, then aged 27, entered upon them according to the custom of the city and still holds them.
CUMBERLAND. Inq. Friday the feast of St. Matthias, 5 Edw. II.
Cumbresdale. Two cottages and 8 bovates land, held of William de Karl(iol)o of his own inheritance by service of 1d. as free farm, and 3s. 8d. for cornage yearly.
Bochardby. 18a. land held by the said Alan and Joan, of the inheritance of the said Joan, of the late King Edward in chief by service of 6 1/2d. yearly for cornage.
The said Alan died twenty years ago and more; and Alan his son, then aged 6, was his heir of the said land of Cumbresdale, and Robert de Quyterig the elder, of whom the said William held the said land by service of 3s. 8d. yearly for cornage, had it in his wardship as wardship of wardship; and afterwards the said Alan the younger, having completed his lawful age, entered upon that land and held it until the day of St. Katherine, 2 Edw. II, when he was slain in Scotland, and Margery de Penyngton his sister, then aged 26 and more, entered upon the same and still holds it. As for the land of Bochardby, the said Joan held it from the death of her husband as her own inheritance, until the feast of St. Luke, 3 Edw. II, when she died, after whose death the said Margery her daughter and next heir entered upon it without the king’s licence, and still holds it.
