The manor (extent given) held for life of the heir of Richard son of Alan, sometime earl of Arundell, a minor and in the king’s wardship, by service of finding a man with a horse unbarded (nudo) in the castle of Oswaldestre for forty days in each war between the king and the prince of Wales at his own charges; which manor he had of the grant of Roger de Esthope by fine levied in the king’s court, to hold for life of the chief lords &c. with remainder to John son of Thomas de Esthope and Margaret daughter of John de Wenlok and the heirs of their bodies, and to the right heirs of the said John son of Thomas. The said John son of Thomas died before the said John de Esthope, without heir of the body of the said Margaret, who survives, for he never married her.
John de Esthope had no heir, for he had no tenement except for life; but Thomas son of Thomas de Esthope, aged 12 at the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist last, is brother and next heir of the said John son of Thomas de Esthope. |

The said Nicholas held nothing in the county in his demesne as of fee, but held a moiety of the barony of Muschamp of the inheritance of Mary his wife. The whole barony was sometime of Robert de Musco Campo, who held it of the king in chief, and after his death descended to Margery and Isabel his daughters and heir; and from Margery came the said Mary, her daughter and her heir of a moiety of the said barony. The said Nicholas and Mary were never jointly enfeoffed nor held the barony in marriage, and the said Nicholas had nothing there except as abovesaid.
