And the said John and Isabel granted to John le Bygod all the said tenements in Sithingg for the said Letice’s life for 7l. 18d. yearly rent. All the said tenements in Sithing are held of the king in chief by service of 1/20 knight’s fee, and 2d. of ‘wayte’ yearly. And Sir Thomas de Lucy gave to Thomas his son and heir in his life time a capital messuage in Aspatrik, three hundred five score and eighteen acres by the greater hundred worth 68s. 10 1/2d. yearly, 24 skeps of oatmeal, 6 skeps of meal from the water-mill, 12 skeps of malt, 12a. meadow, the farm of a brewery, and 16 cottages, who entered upon the same without the king’s licence, wherefore the escheator took the same into the king’s hand and still retains it.
