Horeston. The castle with the soke was held by the said Richard for life by the king’s grant. Neither the said Richard nor Jordan ever held anything in demesne as of fee in the county.
Jordan, son of the said Richard, was his next heir on the day of his death, and was aged 50 and more. Richard, son of the said Jordan, aged 15 at Christmas last, is his next heir. |

Grymmeston and Welhawe. The manors and the hamlet of Besthorp, with the soke of Grimmeston and members, were held for life by the said Richard of Jordan his son. He held nothing in his demesne as of fee in the county.
The said Jordan was his next heir, aged 50 and more, and died within 5 weeks after his father: he held the same manors &c. of Henry de Lacy, earl of Lincoln, and Margaret, countess of Lincoln, his consort, by service of a knight’s fee; whereof Margery his wife, who still survives, was enfeoffed jointly with him by the said Richard his father, for her life. Writ to the escheator, on the complaint of John le Latimer, who married Joan, eldest daughter and heir of the said William, to whom the king granted the wardship of two parts of the said William’s lands &c. that the manor of Duntish, which is the chief manor of the inheritance and has the only park, had been assigned to Petronilla late the wife of the said William in dower, and that she has more than pertains to her &c., commanding him to extend all the said lands &c. in the hands of the said John and Petronilla and send the extent so that the king may have it a month from Easterday, warning the said Petronilla to be then present, 24 Feb. 28 Edw. I. Endorsed by the escheator that he has warned the attorneys of the said Petronilla who is in parts across the seas by the king’s protection. | |

The manor (extent given with names of tenants) wholly held by the said Petronilla in dower, and 1/2 knight’s fee &c. similarly held in Tiley and Watercomb, the whole worth 10l. 14s. 11 1/2d.; and there is a chapel there to which the said John shall present twice, and the said Petronilla the third time, if there shall be so many vacancies in her time. Knights’ fees held by the said John and Petronilla, viz.—12 1/4 knights’ fees which used to pertain to the manor of Wynterburn Assch’ (extent given as above), whereof the said Petronilla holds in dower 4 1/3 and 1/5 knights’ fees. |
