Boreslegh. A messuage, 100a. land, 6a. brushwood, 16a. meadow, 11s. 2½d. rent of free tenants, a water-mill, &c. All the aforesaid held of Maud [alias Joan] daughter and heir of Patrick de Cadurcis [alias Chaworth who is under age and in the king's wardship] by service of 1 knight's fee.
Sourton and Northrissel. Two hamlets, and there are there a piece of waste land worth 4d. yearly, a water-mill, 6 marks rent of free tenants, and 4s. perquisites of court, held of William le Espek for 1/10 knight's fee.

Kemestone. A third part of the manor held of Sir Robert de Brus, his father, who enfeoffed him, to hold to him and the heirs of his body, by service of ½ knight.
The said land ought to revert to Sir Robert his father because he died without heir of his body.
Middlesex. Inq. 8 Feb. 15 Edw. I.
Totynham. Certain lands worth 12l. 16s. yearly, held of the gift of Sir Robert his father, who enfeoffed him by charter as aforesaid, together with a third part of the manor of Kemeston, by service of ½ knight's fee. These lands ought to revert to the said Robert, as abovesaid.
Essex. Inq. Thursday after the Purification, 15 Edw. I.
Writele. The manor held of the said Sir Robert, who enfeoffed him as aforesaid, for his homage and for a little golden ring worth 2s., or 2s. yearly.

Cetesham. A capital messuage, 93a. arable in demesne, 4a. meadow, 20s. 4d. rent of assize, a mill, a wood, customers' works &c. held of his own inheritance, of William de Boys of Chaufhonte by service of ½ knight's fee. He held nothing of the king in chief.

Auvelers. The manor (extent given) held, of the inheritance of Joan his wife, of the king in chief by service of 1 knight.

Iardesleye. A capital messuage, 80a. arable in demesne, pasture for 12 oxen, a small pasture, a small grove, 3s. 9d. rent of freemen, 1½ virgate held by customers, &c. held of Richard de Wyndelesores by knight's service, rendering him 6s. 8d. every 24 weeks, which the said Richard pays for the guard of the castle of Wydelesores. He held nothing of the king in chief.

Burgham. The manor (extent given) held by the said William and Beatrice his wife of Sir Adam le Despensir for a sum of money which they gave him in hand, and not of the king; and they were in seisin thereof on the day the said William died. 60s. are paid yearly to William Bluet and his heirs.
He died on Wednesday before St. Gregory, 15 Edw. I.
Sir John his son, aged 32, is his next heir.
Surrey. Extent, Saturday the morrow of St. Mark, 15 Edw. I.
Compton. A messuage, 40a. arable, 1½a. meadow, 12a. wood, 11s. 6d. and 25s. 1d. rent of assize, customers' works, &c. held of John de Midlinton, doing 6d. yearly or a pair of gilt spurs.

Bromle, Puteham and Wogheners. Lands, &c. held by the said William and Beatrice of the gift of the Lady Philippa de Nevile in free marriage, to them and the heirs of the body of the said Beatrice, rendering to her and her heirs 1d., and doing for them to the king service of 1½ knight's fee. One penny yearly is (thus) paid to William de Nevile.
Bromle. The court, 100a. arable, 8a. pasture, 8a. meadow, 26a. wood, 17l. 10s. 11d. rents of assize, 5½d. rent called Rompeny, 26s. 7d. from farms, 13s. 1d. customs and services, a pair of gilt spurs, &c.

Everwarton. The manor (extent given) with the advowson of the church, including 32 carriage services (averagia) from the manor to Yakesnol towards Brom, held of the king by this service, that if the king should wish to have foot soldiers (petalliam) from the towns of Norfolk and Suffolk in his army in Wales, he should bring the same from the ditch (fossata) of St. Edmunds into Wales, and receive at the said ditch 4d. per head (de quolibet capite) for their sustenance for forty days; 10a. arable held of John de Aldwarton; 5a. land held of the fee of William de Brumpton; and 3a. land held of the fee of William de Thorp.

Lallefrod. A fulling-mill held of the heir of Peter de Leyham, and a salt marsh by service of 16d.; 16a. land held of the knights of the Temple by service of 2s. 8d.; 10a. land held of Thomas Maydenhache, service unspecified; and 3s. 1d. yearly rent of socage held of Hugh Thalemasche by service of 3s. 1d.
Capele and Boyton. A messuage and garden, 50a. arable, 3a. wood, 4a. pasture, 8a. dry pasture, and 41s. 8d. yearly rent, held of William de Monte Canizo of Edwardeston by service of ½ knight's fee, who held the same of the earl of Oxford by the same service; 30a. land and 3a. pasture held of Robert de Boyton by service of 1/20 knight's fee; and 50a. land, 7a. meadow, 5a. pasture and alderwood, and 6s. 4d. yearly rent held of William de Stratford by service of 2s.

Trobbewelle. The site of a court and garden, 125a. arable in demesne, 8a. wood, and six villeins each holding a messuage and 6a. land, held of Gilbert de Clare, earl of Gloucester and Hertford, by service of ½ knight's fee.
Bodekombe. 140a. arable in demesne, 12a. pasture, a free tenant holding a messuage and 5a. land, and four villeins holding 4 messuages and 24a. land, held of John le Sorr for ½ knight's fee.
Joan his daughter, aged 16, married to Roger Perceval, is his next heir.

[Northumberland.] Inq. Monday the morrow of St. Laurence, 15 Edw. I.
Schiwynscheles in the liberty of Tyndale. The manor, which used to be held of the king of Scots, held of the king in chief by service of ½ mark yearly.
Hayleys. The slate quarry, held of William de Swineburn by service of 1d. yearly.
Midilburn. The slate quarry, held of Hugh de Nonewike without any service.
And he rendered 1lb. pepper to the king for the field called le Walfeld, which is extended in the manor of Siwinshell'.
William de Hautwelton, aged 40 and more, is his next heir.
Northumberland. Inq. Saturday the eve of St. Laurence, 15 Edw. I.
Hawelton, Wytington and Claverworth. The manors (extent given) held of the king in chief by service of rendering 4l. of money yearly for ever, 2s. 4d. yearly cornage, and 20s. fine of court at the end of 3½ years, and doing suit at (sequend') the county (court) of Northumberland every six weeks.
Denum. A moiety (extent given) held of John Marmeduk without service, because it is free marriage.
And he died seised of 5 marks rent to be taken from the chamber of the heirs of Hugh de Bulbek; and he held other tenements in the liberty of
Tyndal which the king of Scotland sometime held of the king of England, and which now are in the hand of the king of England, for which the escheator of Tyndale will answer.

Lolledone. The hamlet (extent given), including a wood in the forest, held of Sir William de Valenc[ia] in chief by service of ¼ knight's fee.
Budeston. 18 marks 2s. 8d. rent held of Sir Robert Burnel in free socage (sohagio) by service of 20 marks yearly.

Letter in reply from the escheator to Edmund earl of Cornwall (undated). Sends the inquisitions he has taken, which he delivered to Sir William de Hamelton, who returned them saying he could make no livery to Sir Edmund before the earl had taken his fealty. (French.)
Mandate from Edmund earl of Cornwall to Sir W. de Hamelton, 24 April, 15 Edward I. Sends him the above writ and letter, commanding him to receive the said Edmund's fealty in the place of the king and of the earl, if the earl ought to receive it.

[Oxford.] Inq. Friday after Epiphany, 15 Edw. I.
Croumers. The manor (extent given) of which the said William and Joan his wife were jointly enfeoffed by Sir Robert de Veer, earl of Oxford, father of the said Joan, to be held of Sir William de Valencia for the service of 1 knight's fee.
John his son, born at the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 14 Edw. I, is his next heir.
[Norfolk.] Extent, Thursday before St. Matthias the Apostle, 15 Edw. I.
Beston. The manor (extent given) including herbage in Godwynescarwe, wreck of the sea, and the advowson of the church, which Robert de Veer,
earl of Oxford, gave to the said William with Joan his daughter in free marriage, held of the said earl in chief for homage and service, doing 20s. yearly for the guard of the castle of Dover, and at the queen's hundred (court) of Northorpingham one suit.
He died on Sunday before St. Lucy in the said year. Heir as above.
Buckingham. Extent, Wednesday before SS. Fabian and Sebastian, 15 Edw. I.
Medmenham. The manor (extent given) held of the earl of Oxford by service of 1 knight's fee, and it is of the free marriage of Lady Joan his wife, who still survives.
Heir as above, aged ½ year at Christmas in the said year.
Essex. Inq. Thursday after St. Matthias (Mathi) the Apostle, 15 Edw. I.
Pritelwell. The manor (extent given) held of Robert de Ver, earl of Oxford, service unknown, but he held nothing of the king in chief there, for Joan his wife was enfeoffed of the manor, to herself and her heirs, four years before she married the said William.
He died on the morrow of St. Thomas the Apostle in the said year. Heir as above, aged ¾ year.
Writ to Reginald de Grey, justice of Chester, to permit John de Warenna, earl of Surrey, to hold the lands of Bromfeld and Yal and the castle of Dynasbran until one month from Easter next, and to enquire in what manner the said William held the same lands and castle, 12 Feb. 15 Edw. I.
Chester; Flint. Inq. Tuesday before St. George, 15 Edw. I.
The jury know not whether the said William held Bromfeld and Yal and the castle of Dynasbran in his demesne as of fee or for his life or otherwise ; but Master Walter de la Mare and Robert de Tumele by command of John de Warenna, earl of Surrey, on Thursday after St. Peter ad Vincula, 12 (Edw. I), came to Wrychtesham and delivered seisin of the same lands and castle to the said William; who took the homage of certain persons (names given) and afterwards of the whole community of the country with hands joined and raised unanimously, appointed his own bailiffs, and gave certain lands of the demesnes in the towns of Sessewyc and Hunkele to Madoc Goch and David ap Howel, and took an aid of the whole community, &c.
Similar writ to Henry de Bray, escheator, concerning the manor of Scolethorp, 12 Feb. 15 Edw. I.
Norfolk. Inq. Tuesday before St. Gregory, 15 Edw. I.
Schulthorpe. The manor (extent given) including a custom called 'bussag,' and 'andlepymen' (?) whose toll is worth 24d. yearly, held of Sir John earl of Warrenn' for life, with reversion to the said earl his father.
He died on Sunday after St. Lucy in the said year. Heir as above, aged 38 weeks on Tuesday before St. Gregory in the said year.
