Writ to the escheator in co. Gloucester—on a report that the manor of Estyngton and the advowson of the church of that town were not returned into the Chancery among the other lands &c. late of Hugh, late earl of Stafford, because certain persons, scheming to defraud the king of the custody of the said manor and advowson, alleged that they had been enfeoffed thereof by the said earl long before his death, whereas in fact the earl merely demised the manor at farm to certain persons and took the profit thereof until his death, and moreover, not long before his death, presented a parson to the church in his own right on an exchange of benefices—to enquire as to the said report. 14 March, 10 Richard II. | |
