The prince held knights’ fees and advowsons pertaining to the castles of Trematon and Launceston in the counties of Cornwall and Devon, as appears in the annexed schedule.
Schedule.
Fees pertaining to the honor of the castle of Launceveton:—
Cardynan and its members. 26 knights’ fees, held of the duke by John de Dynham, for which he shall provide 71 armed men to guard the said castle in time of war for 40 days at his own costs, each fee guarding its embrasure (karnellum) with one man, and if they must serve a longer time, then at the duke’s costs. The duke shall have wardship and marriage of the heir, if a minor: and, if the heir be of full age, the duke may take into his hands all the lands etc. of the said heir by virtue of his prerogative, and receive the issues thereof until the heir has done homage. Relief shall be given at the rate of 5 marks for every fee and no more, because they are fees of Mortain. The lands etc. held by John in the said fees are worth 165l. 6s. 8d. yearly.

Writ of Mandamus to William de Ermyn, treasurer of Calais, and Robert de Langeton, mayor thereof. 3 March, 2 Richard II.
CALAIS. Inq. taken at Calais, Tuesday, 26 April, 1 (sic) Richard II.
The jurors do not know on what day the prince died. He held the following tenements of Edward III:—
Two cottages on the west side of ‘Skopstolestrete’ now let to William Frith, merchant, for 73s. 4d. yearly. They extend lengthwise from a tenement formerly belonging to John atte Lane, late burgess of Calais, on the north, and two cottages lately held of the prince by Roger de Coventre but now vacant and waste because they were burnt down about Easter, 1 Richard II, on the south.
A vacant plot of land, now in the possession of the captain of Calais, extending from the above cottages towards the north as far as the prince’s inn towards the south.
A vacant plot of land extending from the said inn on the north as far as the south wall of the town.
Divers houses on the east side of ‘le Frereslane,’ extending from a tenement formerly belonging to John atte Lane, who lately acquired it from William de Teynton, on the north, as far as the prince’s said inn on the south. Four of them are leased at farm by the treasurer of Calais to divers merchants of the staple of wools at 16l. 6s. 8d. yearly from the Purification last; and four are in the possession of the captain of Calais.
An inn commonly called ‘the princes inne,’ with a garden adjacent thereto.
Divers houses and vacant plots on the west side of ‘le Freslane,’ extending from the houses of the Carmelite Friars on the north as far as a vacant plot of land, now held by Giles son and heir of Fulk Scriveyn, on which were formerly two cottages with a garden which Edward III by his charter gave to the said Fulk and Joan, his wife, and their heirs.
A plot of land extending from the said two cottages as far as the south wall of the town.
Ever since the prince’s death the above-mentioned houses, inn and vacant plots have been in possession of the captains of Calais at a rent of 20l. yearly; and they render 4s. yearly to the hospital of St. Nicholas, Calais, [and] two watchmen for the garrison of the town.
A cottage with a vacant plot on the west side of ‘Scopestolestrete,’ abutting on a tenement which John atte Lane lately acquired from John Brounfeld, late burgess of Calais, on the north. The plot and cottage are now held by John Ultyng, title not known.
