Craistok. Two messuages, 40 a. land and 2 a. meadow, held of Ralph, son and heir of William de Craistok, late baron of Craistok, by service of rendering 3s. yearly and doing suit to the said Ralph’s court of Craistok every three weeks.
Motherby, hamlet in Craistok. Two messuages and 16 a. land, held of the same Ralph by homage and fealty, rendering to him 2d. for cornage at the feast of the Assumption.
Berier, hamlet in Craistok. A messuage and 6 a. land, held of the same Ralph by service of rendering to him 1 lb. of cummin and 1d. yearly.
He died on Monday after Michaelmas, 37 Edward III. John de Craistok, aged 23 years and more, is his son and heir.
John Hobcrone occupied the premises and took the issues and profits thereof for a year after William’s death, and since then Thomas de Motherby has occupied them and taken the issues by demise of the said John.

The said William held nothing in his demesne as of fee or in service on the day of his death, to wit, 22 September, 20 Edward III. He married Joan, daughter and heir of Roger Frelond, and had issue by her [a son John]. Joan died 6 years before her husband, and after her death he held for life by the courtesy of England all her lands etc., whether held of the king in chief by knight’s service or of others by divers services according to the custom of ‘gavelekend.’ On his death the said lands etc. were seized into the king’s hand by reason [of the minority of the said John], Joan’s heir. Afterwards the said John, when of full age, alienated all the lands which he held of others than the king; but as for the lands which he held of the king in chief by knight’s service, to wit, 7 a. land in Bylsyngton and Newecherche called ‘Newehalle’ and ‘Maunesfeld,’ he was seised thereof when he died on 20 July, 26 Edward III.
Roger de Grofhurst had possession of the said 7 a. and received the issues thereof until the full age of the said John by virtue of letters patent of the Exchequer, for 12s. to be paid yearly at the Exchequer. Juliana wife of Robert ate Cherche, aged 30 years and more, and Margery wife of Walter Lynot, aged 24 years and more, are next heirs of the said John.

Great Mapilstede, Hengham [ad] Castrum, Hengham Sibille and Halstede. A messuage, 120 a. land, 5 a. meadow and 5 a. wood, held of the earl of Oxford, the prior of St. John of Jerusalem in England and John FitzRauf by service of 18s. yearly.
Date of death as above. John Huntercombe, aged 16 years and more at Christmas last, is heir of the said John Huntercombe, knight, being his son by the said Margaret.

The said Robert held no lands of the king in chief; but he held the under-mentioned shops, land and houses in his demesne as of fee.
Kyngeston on Thames. A shop and 8 a. land, held of the men of the said town, the king’s fee-farmers of the town, as their farmer, by service of rendering to them 12d. yearly for the shop and 4d. yearly for each acre of land towards the farm of the town. Thomas Carpenter and Richard Richelot, bailiffs of the liberty of the said men of Kyngeston, seized the premises in the name of the farm of the town and demised them to Hugh Taverner, to hold as Robert held them; and Hugh has occupied them ever since Robert’s death.
Kyngeston. A house with a curtilage, held of Robert Northrug and Isabel, his wife, by service of 2d.; a house, held of James, son and heir of William de Hadresham, by service of 4 1/2d. yearly; and a shop, held of William Culham of London by service of 5s. yearly. On the death of the said Robert Hegman the premises were seized as escheat by the persons of whom they were respectively held, who have ever since occupied them.
The said Robert was a bastard, and died on Thursday before the Assumption last without heir of himself.

He died on 8 August, 23 Edward III. John Loppe was his son and heir, and married Agnes daughter of Walter Wyliam of Burgh in 38 Edward III. He was 28 years of age. He died on 8 September, 45 Edward III. Walter, his son, aged 8 years and more, is kinsman and next heir of the said Simon.
On Simon’s death, Walter de Kelly, escheator, seized the premises into the king’s hand by reason of the minority of the said John, and from that time until now the late king and the present king have had the issues and profits thereof because no heir has sued his right thereto.

He held the under-mentioned third part of the manor of Morston jointly with Alice, his wife, who survives, in reversion after the death of Joan late the wife of Bartholomew de Morston.
Ore. A fourth part of the manor, held of the king by service of doing two suits twice a year, to wit, at Michaelmas and Easter, at the king’s manor of Middelton.
[Middelton]. A mill called ‘Southmelle,’ held of the king by service of doing two suits yearly at the said manor of Middelton, rendering 5s. rent of assise and 100 eggs at the same manor, paying 2s. 6d. yearly in respect of carrying services (de averagis) at the same manor, and rendering 1d. yearly at the manor of Bakchild.
Morston. A third part of the manor, held of Sir Luke de Ponynges by knight’s service and by the services of rendering 10s. every 24 weeks for ward of Dover castle, 18 lbs. of cheese, 4 1/2 small pounds and two-thirds of a small pound at the manor of Tracy, and 9 lbs. of cheese, 2 small pounds and a third part of a small pound at the manor of Lucy.
He died on Thursday before Whitsunday last. He was a bastard and has no heir of himself.
Endorsed: Alice late the wife of the said Peter and the aforesaid John Roiston severally appointed Ralph de Pynynton as their attorney to sue the above lands etc. out of the king’s hands.
Transcript of a final concord made at Westminster in one month from Easter, 50 Edward III, whereby Thomas Lapyn, citizen of London, and Joan, his wife, for 20 marks, quitclaimed a mill in Middelton, co. Kent, from themselves and the heirs of Joan to Peter de Preston and John Roystone of Sydyngburn and the heirs of Peter.

Thomas Beauchamp, knight, lately held the under-mentioned messuages etc. by demise of the prioress and convent of Derteford, to hold to him and his heirs for 60 years from the eve of the Purification, 47 Edward III, at a yearly rent of 4l. Later, by his writing enrolled in the husting of London for pleas of land held on Monday after St. Matthias, 49 Edward III, he demised all his estate and term in the premises to the said Peter, his heirs and assigns; and Peter held them thus on the day of his death.
(Parish not stated). Eight ruinous messuages with solars and gardens adjacent, held of the king in free burgage, as is the whole city of London.
He died on 14 May, 51 Edward III. He was a bastard and died without heir of himself.
Since his death Alice, his wife, has occupied the premises and received the issues thereof, by what title the jurors know not.

Wynstoun. 46s. 8d. rent, for which 4 messuages and 2 virgates of land there are let at farm to divers tenants, is payable at the same terms.
Irenactoun. 24l. 8s. 8d. rent of assise of free tenants and bond tenants in the manor is payable at the same terms.
The other issues and profits of the lands etc. in the said manors and messuages etc. are not payable at fixed terms, but at the convenience of the keepers thereof.
The said John died on the feast of St. Matthias, 24 February, 50 Edward III, and not on the feast of St. Matthew, 21 September, 49 Edward III. Robert, his son, aged 18 years on the feast of St. Barnabas last, is his heir.
