PREFACE
The present volume is a further instalment of a Calendar of certain documents selected from the class formerly known as Escheats, or Inquisitions post mortem. It covers the period from the 44th to the 47th years of the reign of Edward III. The text was prepared, during the Deputy Keepership of the late Mr. A. E. Stamp, C.B., by the late Mr. J. B. W. Chapman, M.A., of this Office, and the volume was edited and passed through the press, during the Deputy Keepership of Sir Cyril Flower, C.B., by Mr. M. C. B. Dawes, B.A., lately of this Office. The Index has been compiled by Mr. D. B. Wardle, B.A., of this Office.
