He died 24 October, 18 Henry VII, seised in fee of the under-mentioned manor. Richard Clibbrey, aged 21 years and more, is his son and heir.

1074. EDMUND LUCY, esquire.
Inquisition, virtute officii, 6 November, 20 Henry VII.
Long before his death he was seised in fee of the under-mentioned manor of Apley, messuages &c. in Apley, Stokon, Norton, Huggeford, Bodystokton and Astwall, and advowson of Stokton and Bodistokton, and by his charter of feoffment dated 29 January, 8 Henry VII, granted the same to Maurice Ludlowe, William Whitton, Thomas Trussell and Walter Graunt, esquires, to hold to them, their heirs and assigns. The said feoffees, by their indented charter dated 31 January, 8 Henry VII, gave the premises to him and Joan, his wife, and the heirs of his body, with remainder to his right heirs. He and Joan were seised thereof accordingly, he in fee tail and she in her demesne as of free tenement. He died so seised, and Joan survived him and is still seised of the premises as above, the reversion pertaining to Thomas Lucy, Edmund’s son and heir of his body.
Long before his death he was seised in fee of the under-mentioned manor of Middelton Huggeford, and granted it by his charter of feoffment to Robert Broughton, knight, Robert Drury, Roger le Straunge and Richard Verney, esquires, Edward Hanbery, Hugh Hunt and John Hoper, to hold to them, their heirs and assigns, for the performance of his last will. Afterwards, by his last will he directed that the said feoffees should stand and be seised of the manor to the use of the aforesaid Joan during her life, in allowance of part of her dower of the manors and lands &c. whereof he was seised in fee; and they were, and still are, seised thereof in fee to that use.
He died 29 November, 12 Henry VII. Thomas Lucy, aged 17 1/2 years and more, is his son and heir.

She died 20 August, 2 Henry VII, seised of the under-mentioned manor in her demesne as of free tenement, with remainder after her death to the right heirs of John Criklad, late her husband. Robert Walrond, —— Samborne and John Halle, each aged 30 years and more, are kinsmen and heirs of the said John Criklad.

1077. JOHN SPEKE.
Inquisition, virtute officii, 31 October, 2 Henry VII.
He was seised in fee of the under-mentioned manors and lands &c., and enfeoffed thereof John Fitz James, the elder, Richard Fitz James, clerk, John Fitz James, the younger, William Barbour and George Barbour, to hold to them, their heirs and assigns, for the performance of his last will. By his last will he directed that immediately after his death the said feoffees should make a sufficient estate in the law of all the said manors and lands &c. to Edith, then his wife, for the term of her life, without impeachment of waste, with remainder after her death to Elizabeth and Joan, his daughters, and the heirs of their bodies, and in default of such issue to his right heirs.
He died 23 June, 2 Richard III. The said Elizabeth, aged 6 years and more, and Joan, aged 5 years and more, are his daughters and heirs.

1078. WILLIAM BERKELEY of Beverston, co. Gloucester.
Inquisition, virtute officii, 31 October, 1 Henry VII.
Maurice Berkeley of Beverston, co. Gloucester, knight, was seised in fee of the under-mentioned manors of Hamme, Tykenham, Exston, Socke, Chedder and Barowe Gurney, and enfeoffed thereof Gilbert Kemer, clerk, Henry Longe, esquire, and Walter Herne, and their heirs. The said Gilbert died; and the two surviving feoffees, by their charter dated 1 March, 7 Edward IV, granted the manors of Hamme, Exston and Tykenham to William Berkeley (son and heir apparent of Maurice Berkeley, esquire of the king’s body, son and heir of the aforesaid Maurice Berkeley, knight) and Katharine, his wife, one of the daughters and heirs of William, lord Stourton, to hold to them and the heirs of the body of the said William Berkeley, with remainder in default of such issue to the right heirs of the said Maurice Berkeley, esquire. William and Katharine were seised thereof accordingly, he in fee tail and she in her demesne as of free tenement. William died, and Katharine survived him and holds herself in the manors by survivorship.
By his last will the said William directed that the aforesaid feoffees, after payment of his debts, should make a sufficient estate in the law of the aforesaid manor of Socke to the said Katharine for life, with remainer to his right heirs.
He died on the feast of St. Michael, 1 Henry VII. Edward Berkeley, esquire, aged 40 years and more, is his next heir.

1087. THOMAS, ABBOT OF KEYNESHAM.
Inquisition, virtute officii, 2 November, 2 Henry VII.
The said Thomas, immediate predecessor of John, the present abbot, died 5 September last holding the under-mentioned manors &c. in fee in right of his monastery. After his death the said John was elected abbot by licence of Jasper, duke of Bedford, and Katharine, his wife, in right of the said Katharine, lords of the honor of Tounebrygge, parcel of the honor of Gloucester, and founders of the said monastery.
SOMERSET. Manor of Keynesham, with the members, churches, chapels and all other things, liberties and customs pertaining to the monastery, to wit, the in-hundred, the out-hundred and the towns of Charlton, Chewton, Stokewode, Stoketone, Fylton and Brystylton which are members of the said manor of Keynesham; manors of Wynfelde, Fraschaw and Wytham and a moiety of the manor of Brystylton; 2 messuages and 1/2 hide of land in Henton Bluet; 5 messuages with a hide of land in Holcombe; 15 messuages with a hide of land in Leythton; and the rectory of Clowforde. All the above are held of the said duke and Katharine, his wife, in right of the latter, as of their said honor of Tounebrigg, in frankalmoin, and are worth 70l.

The said Roger, who was attainted of high treason in the Parliament held on 7 November, 1 Henry VII, was seised in fee of the under-mentioned manor on 22 August, 1 Henry VII, and for long afterwards. Humphrey Stanley, knight, James Parker, knight, and John Crokker, esquire, have received all the issues thereof from the time of the said attainder.

1090. ROBERT COKER.
Writ of Diem clausit, wanting; inquisition 5 November, 5 Henry VII.
On 20 January, 13 Edward IV, he was seised in fee of the under-mentioned messuages &c. in Mapouder, Kyngeston Russell and Sturmyster Neuton Castell, and on 24 January in the same year enfeoffed thereof by charter Maurice Berkeley, knight, William Carrant, esquire, John Neuburgh, esquire, Richard Turges and Humphrey Pokeswell, who were seised thereof accordingly in fee. The said Richard and Humphrey survived the other feoffees, and are still seised of the premises in fee.
On 2 April, 1 Henry VII, the same Robert enfeoffed John Hayne, clerk, and Robert Turbervile of the under-mentioned land &c. in Frome Whitfeld, and they, by their charter dated 20 August, 2 Henry VII, enfeoffed him and Agnes, his wife, thereof, to hold to them and his heirs and assigns. He was seised thereof accordingly in fee, and she was seised in her demesne as of free tenement, and is still so seised.

Long before his death he was seised in fee of the under-mentioned manors of Chilton Cantelupo and Barowe, and enfeoffed thereof John Seward, John Benet, the younger, John Homber, Thomas Flemmyng, John Homber, the elder, and Walter Wylde, clerk, to hold to them, their heirs and assigns, to the intent that they should make a sufficient estate in law of the manor of Chilton Cantelupo to him and Katharine, his wife, and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to his right heirs, and that immediately after his death they should make a sufficient estate in law of the manor of Barowe to his right heirs and their heirs. The feoffees were seised of the manors accordingly in fee, and granted the manor of Chilton Cantelupo by charter to him and Katharine, his wife, as above, who were seised thereof accordingly. He died so seised, and Katharine survived him.
He died 31 May, 3 Henry VII. John Hommer, aged 17 years and more, is his son and heir.

John Stone of Salisbury, Richard Chapeleyn and Thomas Modell were seised in fee of the under-mentioned manor, and granted it by charter to the said George and Joan, then his wife, and the heirs of the said George. George and Joan were seised therof accordingly, he in fee and she in her demesne as of free tenement; and he died so seised. She survived him, and was sole seised of the manor as above.
She died 10 September last. Edward Darell, knight, aged 28 years and more, is her son and heir.

The said William and Elizabeth were seised in fee of the under-mentioned manors &c. in her right, and by their charter dated 12 September, 3 Henry VII, granted them, inter alia, to Amyas Pawlet, knight, to hold to him and his heirs, rendering to the said William and Elizabeth 100l. yearly for the term of their lives in survivorship, and supporting all other charges needful for the support of them and their whole household during the said term in victuals only. The said Amyas was seised thereof accordingly in fee, and is still so seised.
Elizabeth died 28 October, 13 Henry VII. Amyas Pawlet, knight, aged 33 years and more, is her son and heir.

Robert Bayngton and John Calowe were seised in fee of the under-mentioned manors of Bukshawe and Guldeneswyke, and the messuages, tofts and lands &c. mentioned therewith, and by a fine levied in the king’s court at Westminster in 5 Edward IV, granted them to William Cowdray and Avice, his wife, daughter and heir of John Whitewode and Joan, late his wife, sister and heir of Thomas Gulden, esquire, and the heirs of the body of the said Avice, with successive remainders to the heirs of the body of the said William, to John Newburgh, the elder, esquire, and the heirs of his body, and to the right heirs of the said John Newburgh.
By the same fine the same Robert Bayngton and John Calowe granted the under-mentioned 6 messuages &c. in Milborn Porte, Turneyatt and Hengstrygge to the said William and Avice and the heirs of the body of Avice, with successive remainders to Alice wife of John Whitewode, sister of the said William Cowdrey, and the heirs of her body, to John Neuburgh and the heirs of his body, and to the right heirs of the said John Neuburgh.
By virtue of the above fine the said William and Avice were seised of the premises, he in his demesne as of free tenement and she in fee tail. She had issue William Coudrey and died 17 October, 12 Henry VII, having survived her husband. After her death William, her son, entered into the premises and was seised of them in fee tail.
The said William, the son, died 24 January, 13 Henry VII. Morgan Cowdrey, aged 8 years and more, is his son and heir and kinsman of the said Avice.
SOMERSET. She was seised in fee of the under-mentioned messuage, tenement and 30a. land and meadow, and, while so seised, took to husband a certain William Hardyng, by whom she had three daughters, Joan, Agnes and Joan. She died 30 December, 15 Henry VII, and after her death the said William was seised of the premises in his demesne as of free tenement by reason of issue raised between him and her. He died 5 July, 15 Henry VII, and after his death the premises descended to the said Joan (aged 14 years and more), Agnes (aged 7 years and more) and Joan (aged 3 years and more), as daughters and heirs of Margaret.

Inquisition, virtute officii, 8 November, 17 Henry VII.
He was seised in fee of the under-mentioned lands in Ludwell and Banewell, and enfeoffed thereof by charter John Monke, Edward Stawell, John Hill, John Hadley and John Dodyngton, to hold to them, their heirs and assigns, to the use of Elizabeth his wife, daughter of Robert Stawell, esquire, for life. The said feoffees were seised of the premises accordingly, and John Hill and John Dodyngton, the surviving feoffees, are still so seised.
He was also seised in fee of the remaining under-mentioned moiety, messuages and lands &c., and enfeoffed thereof by charter Robert Stawell, esquire, John Thour, clerk, Robert Stawell, the younger, John Vele, chaplain, John Neweman, chaplain, William Oldmixon, William Pokeswell and John Payne of Briggewater, to hold to them, their heirs and assigns, to the use of himself and his heirs and for the performance of his last will. The said feoffees are still seised of the premises to that use. His said will was produced to the jurors on the taking of this inquisition.
He died 12 August, 11 Henry VII. Thomas Payne, aged 15 years and more, is his son and heir.

He died on Tuesday after St. Bartholomew, 3 Henry VII, seised of the under-mentioned messuage &c. John Gower, aged 14 years, is his son and heir, and is in the wardship of Humphrey Stanley, knight, by the king’s gift.
