By his will dated 16 July, 1493, and proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, the said John Northwode the son ordered his burial to be in the chancel of the parish church of Holy Trinty, Middelton, “beside the old Vicarie and over me a pleyn stone to be leyde for my wyf and me.” He confirmed the wills of his father and of his cousin John Bamme, and as for his lands, he willed that his wife, after “my moder paied and ij prestes founde,” should “have it duryng the nonage of my child and yf she be so long unmaried, and yf she marye I will she have xxl. They died leaving issue John Horewode their son and heir, to whom per formam doni the said manor and land descended after their decease, and who was seised thereof accordingly in fee tail. He was also seised of the under-mentioned manor of Preston in fee, and dying so seised of the said manors respectively, it was found by an inquisition taken before John Troys, Escheator, 19 Oct., 14 Edw. By another inquisition however, taken 29 Jan., 16 Edw.
