Footnotes

  • 1. There is no evidence that Elias ap Kenric held the deanery 1353, as stated by Le Neve-Hardy.
  • 2. There is no evidence that John Martin held the deanery 1445, as stated by Le Neve-Hardy.
  • 3. There is no evidence that Nicholas Rewys held the deanery 1474 as stated by Le Neve-Hardy.
  • 4. He occ. here as Richard Yale, but this must be a confusion with Christian names, because David Yale succeeded Richard Cowland as portionary in the ch. of Llandinam, Montgom., 6 Oct. 1503, which suggests that they had exch. benefices. David Yale held a preb. in Bangor 1509 (Report on MSS. in the Welsh Language (Hist. MSS. Comm., 48, 1898-1910) 11 i 95).
  • 5. Possibly by exch. with David Yale. See p. 6 n. 4.
  • 6. Evans must have been restored to the deanery as he occ. as dn. at his d., 1570 (Nat. Libr. Wales, B/BR/2 f. 30).
